ASRS
QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
1. Is the project to replace the existing control system of the ASRS or to replace the ASRS as a whole?
ANSWER: Project is to replace existing control system, software and Ethernet network for CCAD’s ASRS. Please refer to the SOO for details.
2. Can we receive a copy of the slide deck?
Answer: Yes, PowerPoint Presentation will be sent to the KO.
3. Can we receive dwg files or pdf files of the facility to include all PLC cabinet locations, I/O remote sensor locations, antenna locations and the two/from location for the OS2 (fiber optic) backbone?
Answer: We only have a drawing indicating AGV paths, antennas (4), remote I/Os (14), and location of the pearl servers.
4. Can we receive a copy of the network logical diagram?
Answer: We only have a drawing indicating AGV paths, antennas (4), remote I/Os (14), and location of the pearl servers.
5. The PLC cabinets are to be replaced with like and kind, or similar? And are they to be placed at or near the existing locations?
Answer: Preferably the same, like or similar.
Note: The ASRS Cranes were recently upgraded with Allen Bradley PLCs
6. How many PLCs are in each of the three cabinets?
Answers: Two cabinets have one PLC each. The third cabinet is for additional I/O racks.
7. How many remote I/O locations?
Answer: See attached network map, 14 I/O Boxes and locations. It will be the responsibility of the Contractor to determine the best approach to design the control boxes.
8. How many antenna locations?
Answer: 4 antenna locations, but it’ll be the responsibility of the Contractor to determine the best approach for communication.
9. The black pearl servers are to be replaced?
Answer: Yes the pearl servers are to be upgraded.
10. Can you provide the quantity and manufacturer and model numbers of controllable items on the network (ie: AGV’s, crane/systems/stackers, etc.)
Answer:
24 AGVs, Manufacturer: Dematic, Model: AGV 40 / HK 40 Eagle III.
Crane Systems, Manufacturer: Eaton Kenway / Dematic, Model: 2 Unit Loads HK 4000, 3 Mini Loads HK750.
11. Are the new printers and thin clients going to be Government Furnished Equipment (GFE)?
Answer: Yes new printers and thin clients will be GFE
12. Are the photo cells part of the network that is getting upgraded?
Answer: Photo cells upgrades are not a requirement for this project. Vendor is responsible for software integration of all hardware connected to the software.
13. Would the photo cell infrastructure install back to the control room or Data Center (Site 1)?
Answer: Photocell infrastructure interfaces with the AGVs for pickups and deliveries. Vendor decides on the best solution for software and hardware integration.
14. Is demolition of the old system after cutover part of this bid package?
Answer: No demolition is not involved for this project.
15. Does the OS2 backbone install require standard UPC Optical fiber connections or APC?
Answer: UPC standard with LC single mode fiber connections
16. Does this proposal require an RF analysis or survey to determine any dead zones in the coverage?
Answer: CCAD already has a proprietary RF analysis done. Vendor is more than welcome to perform their own analysis.
17. Are the workstations part of this bid and if so, how many do you need?
Answer: No, GFE supplied items
18. How will new and improved ECIMS interface with the Army’s LMP application? Will the LMP submit orders directly into ECIMS or will there be a pull from that system?
Answer: The ECIMS implementation shall support and communicate with the current Logistics Maintenance Program (LMP) host through a translator, System Application and Products (SAP) XI.
19. Will the implementation or funding of this contract be affected by gov’t shutdown?
Answer: No.
20. How much SAN storage currently exists?
Answer: Total Capacity: 250GB
· Oracle Volume/LUN: 40GB (75% consumed)
· Logs Volume/LUN: 50GB (70% consumed)
· DB Tran Volume/LUN: 70GB (70% consumed)
· CCAD Volume/LUN: 40GB (40% consumed)
· Backup Volume/LUN s: 50GB (75% consumed)
21. What drawings or schematics are available? Please provide as-available, drawings, ASRS network diagram, wiring schematics:
-scale drawings for plant -current access points and via thru walls, outside paths for conduit if needed -AGV mag points, paths, count and location of all AGV stands -count of, and location of workstations to be accessed via new infrastructure Answer: We only have a drawing indicating AGV paths, antennas (4), remote I/Os, and location of the pearl servers.

22. Which crane plc controllers now accept EthernetIP communication? Have the end-of-aisle controllers been updated or just the on-board controllers?
Answer: All Cranes PLC Controllers accept Ethernet IP communications.
23. Is the flat network design required or can distribution/aggregation points be designed to reduce fiber runs?
Answer: Network design is designed by vendor. IT will review
24. What compliant safety and security training is available at CCAD or online, e.g., confined spaces, fall protection, etc.
Answer: Vendor is expected to follow Industries best practices. CCAD will provide required security briefings for vendors performing a function on site.
25. What compliant OSHA VPP training is available at CCAD or online?
Answer: CCAD does not offer OSHA VPP training.
26. This solicitation was presented and carried out as an RFP; however, RFQ is selected in the “Method of solicitation”. Is it expected to be presented with the final pricing by the submission deadline?
Answer: RFP/RFQ sometimes used interchangeably; proposals as instructed in the solicitation must be submitted on/by 10 am 17 December 2021
27. Should the pricing include hardware components or only the price of services?
Answer: Pricing should include all estimate it will take to upgrade required ASRS software, hardware, and network communications.
28. If Dematic hardware is used, will CCAD purchase it directly from Dematic Group?
Answer: Danny please provide input. Vendors are responsible for all hardware purchases.
29. Will CCAD purchase other hardware directly from OEMs? (Consumable components such as network/power cables, cabinets, network equipment etc.)
Answer: Vendors are responsible for all hardware purchases.
30. Can we get a copy of the blueprints/floorplans of data center and warehouse of building 8 depicting the following:
a. Expected fiber optic demarcation point in data center
b. Expected fiber optic demarcation point in warehouse
c. Location of all PLC cabinets for the conveyor, SRMs, and AGVs
d. Location of the AGV antennas
e. Location or path of AGV guiding magnets
f. Location of the conveyors
g. Location of the HK4000s
h. Location of the HK750s
i. Location of the network switches
j. Location of components providing input to the PLCs (buttons, switches, sensors, etc..)
k. Location of components accepting output from the PLCs (relays, motors, actuators, etc..)

31. Can we get detailed documentation of integration of the legacy HK EMS software with LMP systems describing the following:
a. TCP/IP Protocols and ports used for communication

TCP 9000, 9001
b. Protocol functions initiated by the LMP system: Not Applicable.
c. Protocol functions initiated by legacy HK EMS software: Not Applicable.
32. Can we get the description of current features of legacy HK EMS software that must be replicated in the new software?
Answer: HK EMS Software
· Interfaces with the AGVs, Automated Conveyor Equipment Control System, Unit Loads and Min Load retrieval and storage capabilities.
· Implements CCAD’s LMP hosts system requests for parts needed from the Storage Retrieval Machines and coordinates delivery to CCAD Kitting Operations.
· Performs Host System requests for palletized parts from the Storage Retrieval Machines aisles, and coordinates delivery to processing areas throughout Building 8 using AGVs.
· Provides scheduling and control interface functions for the AGVs. Software directs the AGVs from the Unit Loads to the Pick & Deposit stations throughout Building 8. Separate AGV discrete I/O communicates with the EMS Software on the status and location of the AGVs.
33. Can we get the description of any new features desired in the new solution that currently do not exist in the legacy HK EMS software?
Answer: Current ASRS Software and network is obsolete. New ASRS software should be capable of providing the user interfaces necessary to operate and monitor the system which include the following user functions:
· Graphical Overview
· Devices.
· Alarms and Configuration
· User Configuration.
· System Startup and Shutdown.
· System Status Bar.
· System Parameters.
· Watch Bar.
· Conveyor Management.
· Crane Management.
· Load Management.
· ASRS Locations.

· Reports: The system shall include a reporting function to track historical system performance and troubleshooting. The report functions will include:

· The software should allow AGV paths be changed by CCAD personnel with reasonable ease should we need to avoid construction or broken roll up doors.
· New AGV Discrete I/O Control System shall accept new Fire Alarm discrete signal. The Fire Alarm shall trigger the ASRS system to stop the AGV traffic. AGVs shall not stop under a door or exit areas.
· In addition, new software shall be able to create conveyance/groups to store kits and pull kits. Stage/pull by customer group when materials are available, then drop to regular inventory criteria when group/conveyance are not available.
· Locate, survey and material inspection: Able to track and maintain verification on material when requested. Have second verification by cycle counter. Define roles in the system and also determine capable transactions.
34. Can we get the detailed part list of the following:
a. PLC model/part numbers and quantities currently used for the conveyor system (processor, power supply, input/output modules) 1 PLC. Model: PLC-5, Allen Bradley (Obsolete) Conveyor I/O Conversion modules, 1771 I/O, 28 I/Os in quantities
b. PLC model/part numbers and quantities currently used for the HK4000s (processor, power supply, input/output modules) HK4000s were recently upgraded with New PLC---5000s.
c. PLC model/part numbers and quantities currently used for the HK750s (processor, power supply, input/output modules) HK750s were recently upgraded with New PLC---5000s.
d. PLC model/part numbers and quantities currently used for the AGVs (processor, power supply, input/output modules) 1 PLC. Model: PLC-5, Allen Bradley (Obsolete) AGV I/O Conversion Modules, 1771 I/Os, 37 I/Os in quantities in 2 cabinets.
e. Model/part numbers of components providing input to the PLCs (buttons, switches, sensors, etc..)

35. What are the 2 frequencies currently used by the AGV antennas?
Answer: Current frequencies are in the 400-450mhz range.
36. What are the channel widths for the frequencies used for the AGV antennas?
Answer: Channel widths narrow band
37. Is it desired to achieve maximum redundancy (redundant power, redundant equipment) for the new components (network equipment, servers, workstations, printers) in the control center?
Answer: Yes redundancy is required.
38. Is it desired to achieve maximum redundancy (power, uplinks, switches) for the new network switches providing ethernet connectivity to PLCs Answer: Yes redundancy is required.
39. Is it acceptable to present a solution that will replace all HK systems/Dematic PLCs with a different OEM while providing integration into current hardware (HK4000s, HK750s, conveyors, AGVs)?
Answer: Current environment is Allen Bradley PLC and Controls. Standardization of controls is required for ladder logic language.
40. Will the PLC programming logic code or pseudocode be available for review?
Answer: PLC programming logic code belongs to Dematic.
41. When will the migration of HPE Blade servers to Nutanix HCI be completed?
Answer: Equipment has been installed but not online. Migration will begin within 30 days of award date.
42. Will we have access to Dematic support team during all the phases of this project? (Project Implementation and Engineering Service, Installation, Electrical and Network Installation, Software Deployment, Acceptance Testing and Post Installation Support)
Answer: Waiting on verification from CCAD’s Contracting Officer Representative.
43. Is Common Access Card (CAC) authentication already deployed on other systems and the same cards be used for authentication?
Answer: CAC authentication is not currently used on ASRS system. But will be with the new supplied GFE
44. Will the new workstations be integrated into Microsoft Active Directory domain and if so is the integration and access to the DOD network out of scope of this project?
Answer: Yes, new workstations will be integrated into Microsoft Active Directory.
45. Is it required to control the access to the software with CAC or is it acceptable to control the access to the windows OS only?
Answer: Application has to be CAC enabled.
46. Is there a recommended list of hardware/software components presented by Dematic?
Answer: Dematic recommends Allen Bradley Controls.
47. Is public cloud based software solutions accessible for use?
Answer: No application will be hosted within the local data center
