About this file
This document contains questions and answers related to solicitation number W912NW22Q0017 from the Department of the Army Materiel Command Contracting Command at Redstone Arsenal. The solicitation is for the delivery and installation of two freestanding crane systems, each with two bridges and hoists. The cranes must have a 32-foot span and 155-foot runway length. Bridge, hoist, and trolley speeds are specified. No overall height limitation is provided as long as the cranes can clear specified flyover heights in the hangar. No preference for column layout is stated but the layout must fit within the hangar space, with flyover spacing of around 10 feet. One electrical disconnect will be provided centered along each 155-foot runway length at a height of 60 feet above finished floor.

Questions for W912NW22Q0017
1. -What is the runway span?
Section 4.1.6: span is 32 feet, runway length is 155 feet
2. It is not clearly stated if you require the hoist or trolley to be 2-speed or vfd. You do reference how the hoist is driven but I suppose that could be open to interpretation Either or, so long as they can meet the bridge and hoist speed specified in section 4.1.6:
Bridge Speed: 30, 60, 0 fpm Hoist Speed: 28, 4.5 fpm Trolley Speed: 30, 60, 0 fpm
3. A hoist lift height is given but not a total system height. Is there an overall height limitation? We're assuming these are top running cranes, please correct if mistaken No overall height limitation. These are generally under-running crane systems, but top running is fine though as long as it can clear the flyovers in the hangar (outside flyover( on main aisle shown in image below) is 14 foot 6 inches tall, all other flyovers are 12 foot 6 inches tall).
4. -Do you have a preference for column layout? Examples:
7 columns per side of runway @ approx. 25.5'
8 columns per side of runway @ approx. 22'
9 columns per side of runway @ approx. 19'
No preference on column layout, but needs to fit within the Hangar space. Flyover spacing is roughly 10 feet between stanchions; each stanchion is 48 inches wide.
5. -What is the estimated distance for the conduit and wiring we'll have to run to your disconnect?
No more than 110 feet? Depends on where and how the system gets power to the bridges. One disconnect will be provided 60 AFF and centered along each of the 155 foot lengths, see below image.
