Selfridge Dining Facility Audio/Video System Upgrade – FY 2018

· Upgrade existing Audio/Video system to accommodate Digital high-definition video.

Current system functionality allows for different combinations of each of the three room partitions. When partitions are combined, all microphone and video inputs are shared, otherwise the A/V in each partition is independent, but controlled with a central Crestron controller. There are two computer inputs in the Center partition, can computer input in each of the side partitions. There is a DVD/VCR combo unit dedicated for each partition. There are two Standard Definition NTSC “Warrior Net” inputs into the system, and are available to each partition. These channels are available on a rack-mounted MM fiber receiver.

The Center partition has a projector for video and 2 sets of speakers for audio – a pair in front, and a pair in the rear. There are VGA + Audio inputs into the system, via Extron extenders: one in the lectern with the jack in the front wall, and a jack in the floor near the rear.

East and West partitions have two 58” Panasonic Monitors each (that will not be upgraded at this time). They do not need to have independent video feeds, so both displays show the same content. Audio for the side partitions comes through speakers that are mounted to the sides of the displays, but are independent from the video.

Four Room/Partition Configurations:

1. All Rooms Separate

2. East & Center Combined

3. West & Center Combined

4. All Rooms Combined

Upgraded System functionality remains the same as the existing, with the following exceptions:

· Replace existing Projector & screen with a 3x3 Video Wall utilizing 55” displays.

· Add an HDMI input for a V-Brick Set-top-box* or other cable/satellite TV STB*.

· Add an SDI video input, so that a Live Camera feed can be displayed on all screens.

· Remove three existing DVD/VCR players, reducing number of system inputs.

· Reduce the “Warrior Net” (SD analog video/audio) inputs from two to one.

· The Center-Rear HDMI/VGA wall plate will be in a new location in one of the side walls in the rear of the Center partition – not in the floor, as is the existing VGA extender jack.

· Add an audio-only input to the system, with 3.5mm stereo jack, and a line-level XLR-F jack on a wall plate located near the front.

Specific Requirements:

1. Matrix Switcher - The existing matrix switcher (Extron CrossPoint 300) will be decommissioned and replaced with a 7 x 4 Digital Media Presentation Switch (DMPS), allowing for matrix switching of multiple inputs to the current 3 outputs. Inputs needed: 2 HDMI; 2 HDMI/VGA; 1 HDMI/VGA/Component/Composite/S-Video; and 2 Twisted-pair (e.g. Crestron DM or Extron XTP/DTP).

Inputs Sources needed are:

1. Front wall plate with VGA, 3.5mm and HDMI input**

2. Rear wall plate with VGA, 3.5mm and HDMI input**

3. West wall plate with VGA, 3.5mm and HDMI input**

4. East wall plate with VGA, 3.5mm and HDMI input**

5. HDMI from V-Brick or other Cable/SatTV STB

6. 3G-SDI video thru an 3G-SDI to HDMI scaler

7. SD video/audio from “Warrior Net” (analog input) fiber receiver.

Outputs needed: 2 HDMI and 2 Twisted-pair – all capable of 1920x1080 resolution, but can be independently scaled down to 1366x768 (for old Panasonic displays).

Display Devices (Outputs):

Center – Main Display (3x3 Video Wall, 12’w x 6.7’h total)
East Side – Two 58” Panasonic Displays***, shared video signal
West Side – Two 58” Panasonic Displays***, shared video signal

*Government Furnished Equipment **New Wall Plates (HD Video Extenders - Transmitters) will replace existing Extron VGA extender TX plates. New plates will have both VGA & HDMI (auto-switching) video inputs, and 3.5mm TRS audio inputs. Cabling between the plates and the head end will be replaced with the manufacturers recommended twisted-pair cabling (e.g. Shielded CAT6).

*** Existing Panasonic TH-58PH10 Displays in the East and West partitions will not be replaced, nor will the RGBHV cables back to the head-end. The video signal that feeds these displays needs to be scaled from HDMI to RGBHV, 1366x768px resolution.

2. Video Wall - The 3 x 3 Video Wall will replace the existing projector and screen. Contractor will provide and install 3 x 3 video wall utilizing 55” displays to a wall mount system located on wall centered to room where screen formally dropped. The 3x3 video wall will display a single image across all 9 displays, effectively making one large display. Display Specifications: certified for 24/7 Continuous Operation; Ultra Narrow Bezel (<2mm); DP 1.2 Digital Daisy Chain (Supporting UHD Resolution, HDCP support); D-LED DID Panel Technology; Calibrated for uniform brightness and color across multiple displays; 700 cd/m²; Anti-glare coating; 55 in Diagonal Size; 1080p (Full HD) Display Format; 1920 x 1080px Resolution; 2 (minimum) HDMI Ports, 1 DisplayPort, 1 DVI & 1 VGA (HD-15); Image Aspect Ratio 16:9; Image Contrast Ratio 4000:1; 8 ms Response Time; >177° Viewing Angle (Horizontal and Vertical). Equivalent to Samsung UH55E-F Displays.

3. 3G-SDI Input - Require a 3G-SDI input into the system, for a live camera feed. 3G-SDI signal routed thru a BNC jack (on the same wall plate as the additional audio input jack plate located front-right of the center partition, near the A/V closet), then thru a 3G-SDI to HDMI Scaler, then into the DMPS matrix.

4. Control System - System Control shall be through the existing wall mounted touch panels and associated Crestron controller. Reprogramming the control system will be required to accommodate all of the equipment changes and some minor functionality changes.

5. Audio - The existing audio system and equipment rack shall remain. There may be some audio “tweaking” on the Lectrosonics LM1612 Audio Processor for improved audio, however no equipment is being replaced. Two audio-only inputs will be added and connected to the Digital Media Presentation Switch, giving the system two independent audio inputs: one for an iPod/Smart Phone (3.5mm stereo jack) and another for a balanced line-level (XLR-F jack) input, Both inputs will also be controlled thru the touch panels.
