STATEMENT OF WORK
Repair Finishes - BASEWIDE
RPM PN BRKR 042017
BIRMINGHAM IAP (ANG), ALABAMA
9 MAR 2004
1. Contractor provide all labor, materials, tools, equipment, transportation, supervision, etc to prepare and paint exterior doors on several buildings at Birmingham IAP, Alabama.
2. Work includes disposal off base of all removed items, construction debris, and job site cleanup.
3. Work shall not include painting any prefinished items. Several doors and louvers are anodized aluminum bronze colored finish. DO NOT PAINT THESE “storefront” type entrances or non-painted surfaces.
4. Doors and frames, louvers, steel columns, handrails, protective pipe bollards, and wall mounted roof access ladders to receive new paint are summarized on attached sheet. Doors are called out in 3070 personnel door “equivalents”; that is, double 3070 doors will be included as two (2) personnel doors. Overhead coiling doors have an average size of 12 ft wide X 12 ft high. Note that aircraft hangar bay doors at Bldgs 135 and 138 are not included in this painting effort.
5. Work generally includes all items necessary to prepare and paint personnel doors and frames and overhead coiling doors and frames, and miscellaneous steel items at buildings identified in this Statement of Work. A base plan is provided for reference.
a. Work includes the exterior face of personnel doors and frames.
b. Work includes both sides of overhead doors and frames.
c. Work includes painting previously painted exterior mechanical system louvers.
d. Work includes painting handrails.
e. Work includes painting protective bollards safety yellow and black strips.
f. Prepare surfaces to be painted by using paint removers, abrasive paint, cleaning materials as necessary to provide a surface that will accept new paint and adhere to the surface for the long term. Provide coatings with urethane to protect painted surfaces against chaulking, peeling, fading, etc.
g. Provide paint that matches the base color standard of dark bronze. Color shall match doors on Civil Engineer Bldg 700.
h. Provide worker lift, ladders, scaffolding, etc as necessary to access work. Some doors and louvers are on second floor level or higher. Some columns are 12 ft or more high.
i. Paint louvers in doors where present.
j. Remove signage as necessary, paint doors, and provide new signage such as fire department symbols, authorized personnel only, secure area, etc.
6. BID OPTIONS:
a. The carpet (42 ounce or greater) and vinyl cove base replacements shown in Building 151. To include carpet demolition and furniture moving. (see separate drawings)
b. The drywall repair, paint, and vinyl cove base shown in Building 141 and 142. (see separate drawings)

8. Submittals: Provide manufacturer’s data for material proposed for use, to include solvents, paint, strippers, etc. Upon approval of materials for use provide a summary of quantities of materials on hand to the BCE each week until work is complete.
9. Performance time for all elements of work is 180 calendar days.
