About this file

This document is a Questions & Answers file addressing a single inquiry regarding case substitution for an oboe procurement.

The question addresses whether an alternative case is acceptable if Howarth discontinues the wood case before the September delivery date. The answer confirms that alternative cases are acceptable if the original wood cases become unavailable due to discontinuation. However, any substitute case must meet the requirements for securing and protecting an oboe during storage and transportation. Acceptable alternatives include manufacturer original equipment manufacturer (OEM) cases or established brands such as Marcus Bonna, BAM, and ProTec cases.
