Description of Requirements (DOR) for
Portable Ruggedized Electronic Rackmount Case
The Sensor Integration Branch has a need for a quantity of four (4) portable ruggedized electronic rackmount cases to house four (4) portable supercomputer systems.
Portable ruggedized rackmount case requirements:
1. Internal rack frame size will be 12U with dimensions of 19 inches wide X 21 inches high X 34 inches deep conforming to the Electronic Industries Association (EIA)-310-D standard with square mounting flange holes.
2. Internal case dimensions must accommodate the 19 inches wide X 21 inches high X 34 inches deep rack with additional 6 inches of space from the rear of the 34 inch rack to the rear opening of the case to accommodate equipment cables.
3. Rack frame shocked mounted for 270 to 325 lbs to minimize against mechanical loads such as shock, impact and vibration.
4. Both rack and case should meet or exceed MIL-STD-810, Method 516, procedures 1 through 4 for shocks.
5. Rack frame made from high strength, corrosion resistance material with an anodized coating, preferably black with other common colors acceptable.
6. Overall external case dimensions will be dictated by rack dimensions set forth in requirement #2 and shock mounting configuration set forth in requirement #3 to include the 6 inches of additional space in the rear of the case and other vendor design requirements.
7. Case will be an all welded construction made from high strength aluminum with a minimum thickness of 0.090 inch with a durable low luster Desert Tan color finish. Other low luster colors such as OD Green or gray are acceptable if Desert Tan is not available.
8. Case must meet NEMA 4X / IP64 or better rating with pressure equalization valve.
9. Corrosion resistance external hardware rated for the required load and coated with the same durable color as the case.
10. Minimum of four lifting handles with two per side. Handles should be covered with some form of polymer to reduce handling fatigue.
11. Four lifting points, two per side, for sling lifting that can be folded against the case to reduce overall profile.
12. At least one lid per case with built-in storage pouch for cables and manuals.
13. Each case shall have two 8 inch deep lids with a 6 inches X 22 inches rectangular cut out at the bottom with a screw on removable cover plate. The removable cover plate should have a gasket to maintain the NEMA 4X / IP64 rating. Vendor shall provide a dimensioned drawing of the cut out showing the cut out location in relationship to the bottom of the 8 inch lid.
14. All lids shall have padlock hasps or other means to secure the case with padlocks.
15. Case shall come with heavy duty removable swivel casters with brakes.
16. 1 inch thick flexible insulation material lining the inside of the case to reduce thermal conductivity.
17. A NEMA 4X / IP64 or better rated 12inches wide X 5.5 inches high X 1.25 inches deep recessed panel box for electrical feedthroughs with a cover plate that is hinged at the bottom with two latching mechanisms at the top. The hinged cover plate need not be NEMA 4X / IP64 rated. See attached drawing for the feedthrough hole patterns and dimensions for the recessed panel box.
18. The reference point for the location of the recessed electrical panel box will be the center of the electrical panel which will centered with the case in the horizontal direction and 16.5 inches from the center of the recessed electrical panel box to the bottom of the internal rack (not the case) in the vertical direction. The term “bottom of the internal rack” is referred to where the bottom surface of the lowest piece of equipment meets the rack. The recessed electrical panel box shall be located on the left side (driver side) of the case.
SEE ATTACHED DRAWING FOR REFERENCE.
