1. How long will the vendors need to hold their quoted price, typically the validity dates are ~30 days.
Answer: This is a requirements contract. Pricing will be firm fixed price for 5 ordering years per unit. Vendors need to account for each year’s anticipated price. The 1449 solicitation separates each year’s ordering year by CLIN : 1001, 2001, 3001, 4001, 5001 for that specific item. If pricing fluctuates please list the unit price by year to be evaluated.
2. How should vendors treat the freight, an example – shipping one keg of spikes vs. shipping a truckload? Delivered cost would much greater on 1 keg.
Answer: Items like spikes and bolts we would order by Keg. Smaller ties 8’ to 9’ would be ordered per bundle, longer ties would be ordered individually. I will be amending this solicitation to add an FOB ORIGIN Freight CLIN for the ENTIRE 5 year ordering period to account for each delivery order freight charge. See CLIN 5001. Contractor is not to bid that CLIN. It will not be evaluated.
3. How can vendors specify lead-time on items?
Answer: For the solicitation no lead time is required. Upon award, orders will be placed on Delivery orders (DO). Each DO will have its own delivery schedule based on communication with the awardee.
