AMENDMENT 2
The purpose of this amendment is to extend the solicitation closing due date and time to 1pm CT on September 22, 2020 and answer the following vendor questions:
1. Question (Q): Is it expected that the map creation happens beforehand (i.e., separate mobilization and work task)? Or could we map it as we do the work and show the work we have done on the map following implementation?
Answer (A): We provide the initial maps, Excel table, and GIS layers with the locations, and the contractor just needs to provide to us either an updated table or GIS layer that shows whether each of the provided locations was treated as hard mast release or as a gap with planting. So the contractor does not actually need to do any mapping, just provide us documentation with what treatment occurred at each point on the map grid. The documentation should be provided after the release and gap creation treatments are completed.
2. Q: Are there specific tree tubes specified? It seems that some of these species (based on stock we have gotten previously) may not fit well with typical tree tubes.
A: No specific type of tree tube is specified; per the requirements, any tree protector used should be at least two feet tall, protect against rabbit cutting, and be supported in a way that it does not cause the seedling to tip over. The contractor is responsible for determining which type of protector will be feasible with these requirements and based on the tree seedlings being planted.
3. Q: For the canopy gap creation, the brush we cut is just to be placed outside of the canopy gap and not hauled away, correct?
A: Correct. No movement of the brush is required.
4. Q: For woody invasive control, we are either cutting and stump treatment or basal bark treatment, correct?
This is up to us to decide? If we cut, we are not hauling away brush, or burning it, correct?
A: Yes. Either cut stump or basal bark is allowable and the contractor can choose based on the stem being treated. And no brush removal or handling is required. If a stem is cut, the brush can be left in place.
All other terms and conditions remain unchanged.
