2 PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS

2.1 PUMP SPECIFICATIONS

The sump pump shall be a submersible, thermally protected, 208V 3- Phase pump capable of a flow rate of 50-75 GPM at 40’ of head. Two

2 | P a g e pumps shall be provided that are identical to each other. No shut-off float switch shall be provided. The pump shall be able to pass solids up to ¼” and able to strain particles larger than ¼”. It shall be all metal construction, with the volute, impeller, and base made of cast iron; and the casing, motor housing, and hardware made of stainless steel. The pump shall utilize mechanical seals that are consistent with industry standards; seal materials include AIST PB-229 stainless steel, solid tungsten-carbide, Buna-N vinylidene-fluoride-hexafluoropropylene, EPT, tetrafluoroethylene, carbon-ceramic, or other materials as approved. The portion of the pump system to be handled in the wetwell shall not weigh in excess of 75lbs. The pump shall have a 2” NPT-M top discharge. Contractor shall install a 2” male cam-action coupler to the pump discharge. The pump shall have at minimum a 50’ power cable. The plug on the pump shall match the wall receptacles after all pump station electrical modification are completed.

Pump supplier shall provide a motor controller/disconnect panel equipped with a “Start”, “Stop” and “Overload Reset” pushbuttons. A red “Motor Running” and an amber “Power Avail” Push-to-test lights.

The motor controller/disconnect panel shall also house the thermal overloads, and motor starter components. The motor controller/disconnect panel control power shall be 120 volts. The controller shall be installed in the same location as the existing disconnect switch.

2.2 ELECTRICAL SPECIFICATIONS

The contractor shall provide and install electrical components and wiring as needed to supply 208 volt, 3-Phase power to designated outlets and 208/120 volt, 3-phase power to the motor controller/disconnect panel. Reference Lakewood Sump Pump Schematic at the end of this specification for required wiring details. All components shall be UL listed; and all components and workmanship shall conform to applicable local, state, and national electrical codes. The contractor shall verify proper wiring of the pump with respect to the wiring in the wall outlet. All work shall be performed by a licensed electrician of Journeyman level or higher.

3 ELECTRICAL SCOPE OF WORK

3.1 SCOPE

The Lakewood Pump Station currently has 125/250V NEMA 14L-30 outlets installed that are wired for 208/120 volt Single-Phase. The sump pump disconnect switch is a 3-phase disconnect switch but, has been wired 208 volts, single-phase (Figure 3-5).

3 | P a g e

The work performed shall modify the existing power system from panelboard “LP” to the sump pump outlets from 208/120 volt Single- Phase to 208 volt, 3-Phase. The contractor shall provide all work, associated materials, and equipment required to convert the sump pump system to a three-phase system including removal and replacement of the existing disconnect switch. Figure 3-1 shows the electrical system as originally designed. The new motor controller shall be installed in same location as the existing disconnect switch.

The panelboard circuits needed for the sump pump are circuits 13, 15, and 17. Currently, panelboard “LP” (Figures 3-2, 3-3 and 3-4) has a 2-pole breaker installed in circuits 13 and 15 that provides power to the existing sump pump receptacles, and has a spare circuit breaker in circuit 17. These circuit breakers shall be removed and replaced with a 3-Pole 20A circuit breaker.

The sump pump disconnect switch (Figure 3-5), shows single phase, 208 volt wiring. The Contractor shall remove and replace the existing disconnect switch and install a new motor controller/disconnect panel.

The Contractor shall provide additional wiring through the existing conduits from panelboard “LP” and wire gutter to the motor controller/disconnect panel as needed to complete the 3-Phase, 208/120 volt installation of the motor controller/disconnect panel, Figure 3-8 and Figure 3-9 show current wire routing from the existing disconnect switch to panelboard “LP”.

The receptacles are wired for 208/120 volt, single-phase (Figure 3-6 and Figure 3-7). The receptacles wiring shall be modified to 208 volts, 3-phase with equipment ground. The contractor shall modify the color of the neutral wire (white wire) to a phase conductor by adding identifying tape at each access point, tape color shall match the color of the new phase conductor from motor controller/disconnect panel. The contractor shall disconnect the neutral wire from the receptacles to panelboard “LP” in the wire gutter and then connecting to the new phase conductor from motor controller/disconnect panel. The receptacle wiring routes from the receptacles (Figure 3-10 and Figure 3-11) back to the wire gutter (Figure 3-12) located above the Motor Control Center (Figure 3-9).

It is believed that the work specified within paragraph 3.1 can be accomplished without the installation of additional conduits. If the contractor has reason to believe that the work cannot be performed as specified above, the Contractor shall contact the Contracting Officer’s Representative and get written approval from the Contracting Officer prior to any deviation from this scope of work.

Contractor shall create As-Built drawings of all electrical work performed to include all new and existing wiring, and to include data on all wiring connections to the disconnect switch and receptacles including new and existing connections.

4 PUMP SCOPE OF WORK

4.1 SCOPE

Contractor shall have pumps delivered to the Lakewood Pump Station as specified. The contractor shall ensure that the receptacles and pump plug are wired properly and ensure the proper function and rotation of the sump pump. The contractor shall take the appropriate steps to verify that both receptacles will operate the pump prior to full testing of the pumps. The contractor shall be responsible to properly coordinate this effort.

The contractor shall ensure the 2” male cam-action connector is properly installed and is compatible with the existing discharge hosing provided by the city.

Pumps are to be thoroughly tested before the COR, for at least 1 hour of continuous operation. The pumps should be observed for proper flow to both the gatewell and stilling basin. All components of the pump system shall be tested for functionality (i.e. pushbuttons, pump operation, etc). During testing, pumps are to be monitored for excess noise, vibration, or other factors that could lead to premature pump failure.

5 DELIVERY AND INSPECTION

Delivery of Sump Pumps and any other items should be made to the Lakewood Pump Station located in Devils Lake, ND. All deliveries shall

12 | P a g e be coordinated with the COR. Upon delivery, the COR will visually inspect the pumps and other items for any obvious damage prior to acceptance.
