PART 1 GENERAL

1.1 PROJECT DESCRIPTION

SUMMARY OF WORK

The Contractor's construction must comply with all Lebanon's and International Construction Standards, Codes and technical requirements contained herein. Provide construction using the best blend of cost, construction efficiency, system durability, ease of maintenance and environmental compatibility. Obtain all approvals from the following Lebanese Armed Forces before proceeding with construction:

- G4 Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF)

- G4 Lands and Infrastructure Bureau

1.2 PROJECT ITEMS OF WORK

1.2.1 Base

This project includes site survey, design-build (D-B) site adapt design (reference Specification 01 33 16.00 49) and construction of a concrete masonry unit demonstration building, 150 mm aggregate surfaced access road, and associated site work and grading. The building in its entirety is 11,600 mm x 15,750 mm. Site work includes the following: grading and preparing of surface as indicated by the drawings, grading and compacting the access road as indicated by the drawings.

1. 3 LOCATION

The project site is accessible by a paved road (Kesrouane / Taraya) and is located approximately 60km East of Jounieh and approximately 90km Northeast of Beirut, as indicated on the Drawings.

1.3 .1 Life Support

Base life support is not available. The Contractor will have responsibility for Life Support (food, lodging and transportation to the worksite, private or commercial) for his workforce.

1.4 SECURITY REQUIREMENTS

Working understanding of the necessary access requirements for Lebanese Armed Forces property. This process includes:

a. Obtain or be in possession of a current Lebanese Business license.

b. Obtain or show prior possession of Defense Base Act Insurance (DBA) from previous U.S. based projects.

c. Demonstrate ability by describing how to successfully vet/clear their workforce through Lebanese Armed Forces security.

d. This project will occur in the Aqoura region of Lebanon on Lebanese

Construct Concrete Masonry Unit (CMU) demonstration building aggregate access road. This task will consist of surfacing graded access road with 150 mm of aggregate surfacing.
