QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Q1. Is a lift gate needed in order to unload cargo at the destination loading dock?

A1. The building is ground level and the loading area is also ground level in the back of the building. If the pallets require hydraulic lifts to unload each pallet from the truck onto the ground and into the back door of the library, they are to be provided by the contractor.

Q2: Will trucks utilized for transportation require climate/humidity control? If so, does it only apply to the “fragile” inventory?

A2: Yes, all trucks utilized for transportation require climate/humidity control for all inventory beyond those designated as fragile, such as video film, books, pamphlets, monographs, audio tape, discs, any and all paper items.

Q3: Is shelving to be reassembled at destination?

A3: No, shelving will not be reassembled at destination.

Q4: Is delivery to the first floor of destination? Where is the final resting place in relationship to the loading dock?

A4: Yes, Delivery is to the 1st Floor of the destination. Back loading area

Q5: Is relocating of goods from first floor to third floor not in scope?

A5: There is only the 1st floor at the destination. It is the former library building approx. 3000 sq. feet. Flat ground entry. No stairs. The room is in the shape of a very long rectangle.

Q6: Acceptable Delivery time to get access through ERDC Gate in Vicksburg, MS.

A6: Deliveries shall be made, when BOTH library staff and security are present, which is Weekdays Mon-Fri, 8AM

– 3:30PM, Central Time. Deliveries outside of those hours cannot be accepted and must be scheduled for the next business day. ERDC’s IT Offices are closed on weekends.

Q7: Are pallets to be broken down at the destination?

A7: Contractors shall not unload pallets. Upon delivery of pallets into the building, they are to remain with the library, intact and in the formation that they are shipped, (i.e. loaded and shrink-wrapped).

Q8: What is the estimated value of the shipment?

A8: Replacement costs estimated at $250,000.
