About this file
This notice from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection acknowledges the Jacksonville District Corps of Engineers' intention to use the port maintenance dredging exemption under Section 403.813(3) of Florida statutes to dredge Navy Fuel Pier 111 in Duval County, Florida. The exemption allows maintenance dredging to be conducted without additional state permits, and the Department confirms the project meets exemption requirements. The letter also assumes consistency with Florida's coastal zone management program and water quality certification under the Clean Water Act but does not relieve other permitting requirements.
The related federal contract opportunity is a solicitation issued by the Department of the Army Corps of Engineers Engineering District Jacksonville to conduct maintenance dredging of the 50-foot project at U.S. Naval Station Mayport and the 38-foot project at Navy Fuel Pier 111 in Duval County, Florida. A pre-bid conference will be held via teleconference on September 21, 2022 at 11:00am local time, with call-in and web link information provided. Interested parties should confirm attendance by September 20, 2022.

RE: Navy Fuel Pier 111 Maintenance Dredge Exemption
Mr. Hollingsworth:
The Department is in receipt of your July 15, 2022, notice to use the Port Maintenance Dredging Exemption in Section 403.813(3), Florida Statutes (F.S.). The Department acknowledges your intention to use the exemption and certification that you meet the requirements of the statute. Acknowledgement by the Department that this activity qualifies under the provisions of Section 403.813, F.S., also assumes a determination of consistency with Florida's Coastal Zone Management Program, as required by Section 307 of the Coastal Zone Management Act and Water Quality Certification under Section 401 of the Clean Water Act, 33 U.S.C. 1341.
This letter does not relieve you from the responsibility of obtaining other permits (Federal, State, or local) that may be required for the project. If you have any questions, please contact me at Gregory.garis@floridadep.gov or (850) 245-8280.
