c) Weather Conditions. The project area is subject to tropical storms and hurricanes from June through November, and to windy and/or rainy weather during any time of the year.

The climate of the area is subtropical, and temperatures below freezing occur rarely. The wet season in the project area is from May through October. Rainfall during these months is closely associated with convective activity. These rainfall events are normally of short duration and amounts are spatially variable. In general, the winter months constitute the dry season. Rainfall during the winter months is usually associated with mid-latitude systems (fronts and low pressure systems) and is distributed in a more spatially uniform pattern. Occasionally, daily rainfall in the dry season can be quite heavy as mid-latitude systems penetrate into central Florida. Dangerous thunderstorms can occur in this area at any time of the year.

It shall be the contractor's responsibility to obtain information concerning weather conditions in the project area. The publication Local Climatological Data - Monthly Summary published by NOAA’s National Climatic Center in Asheville, North Carolina contains climatological and meteorological observations and data relevant to this region. Actual adverse weather delay days must prevent work on critical activities for 50 percent or more of the Contractor's schedule to be considered "unusually severe weather"

c. The number of actual adverse weather delay days shall include days impacted by actual adverse weather, be calculated chronologically from the first to the last day of each month, and be recorded as full days.

If the number of actual adverse weather delay days exceeds the number of days anticipated for adverse weather by the Contractor, the Contracting Officer may convert any qualifying delays to calendar days giving full consideration for equivalent fair weather work days that should have been anticipated for the conditions at the project location.

1.10 UNITS OF MEASURE

The standard U.S. system of measure may be utilized by the Contractor in the performance of his work. All survey records, official documentation, engineering data, and all correspondence, including any submittals and shop drawings, shall clearly denote which system of measure is being utilized, referenced or discussed. Any omission, unprofessional or inaccurate use of a unit of measure on the part of the Contractor shall not relieve him of his responsibilities under the contract terms. The unit of measure used in this specification is the standard U.S. system. The contract drawings denote both standard U.S. system where appropriate. If no unit of measure is indicated on the drawing such as on ranges, stations, slope elevations, and distance numbers, then they are to be considered the standard U.S.
