2.10 CONCRETE REPAIR MORTAR

Make the repairs with a prepackaged concrete repair mortar specifically designed for the repair of concrete structures. Base the material upon Portland cement repair mortar. Provide suitable materials for both horizontal and vertical repairs, freeze thaw resistant, exterior applications, and have a minimum compressive strength of 5,000 psi at 28 days as labeled on the package. Apply repair material in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations.

2.11 VAPOR BARRIER

Provide polyethylene sheeting with a minimum thickness of 6 mils in accordance with ASTM D4397 or other equivalent material having a vapor permeance rating not exceeding 0.5 perms determined in accordance with

ASTM E96/E96M.

2.12 GEOTEXTILE

Geotextile used for separation layer to be in accordance with Section 31 05 22 GEOTEXTILES, paragraph "Separation Layer."

2.13 SELF-CONSOLIDATING MIXTURES

2.13.1 Mix Design

Submit additional requirements with the concrete mix design. Test results showing the concrete is capable of producing the required compressive strengths, visual stability index, slump flow, and air content. Submit photos of the visual stability index test. Determine slump flow to aid placement. Submit a range for the slump flow to suspend particles within the mixture and not cause segregation. Vibrators are prohibited for use to consolidate self-consolidating concrete.

2.13.2 Deleted

2.13.3 Slump flow and Visual Stability Index

Determine slump flow in accordance with ASTM C1611/C1611M. The slump flow determined within the range of the approved mix design. The visual stability index to be 0 to 1.

2.14 MACRO SYNTHETIC FIBER REINFORCEMENT

If required, the macro synthetic fiber reinforcement will be approved prior to installation and manufactured specifically for use in this type of application. Submit manufacturer data on amount of reinforcement required per cubic yard.

2.15 RISERS

Risers and riser materials for manholes, hand holes, and storm water structures approved by the Contracting Officer prior to installation.

32 13 13-12

2.3 GUARDRAIL HARDWARE

a. Provide in accordance with AASHTO-AGC-ARTBA.

b. Angles, channels, wide flanges, and plates not contained in the above standard in accordance with ASTM A36/A36M. Structural tubing for short steel posts in accordance with ASTM A500/A500M or ASTM A513, Grade 1008. Galvanize steel plates and structural tubing in accordance with AASHTO M 111/M 111M. Do not punch, drill, cut, or weld the metal after galvanizing.

c. Manufacture reflector tabs from 0.15-inch aluminum or galvanized steel sheets. Use an adhesive that resists peeling with a force of 5 pounds per inch of width. Use mildew resistant adhesive that has no staining effect on retro-reflective sheeting.

2.4 MARKERS

Provide in accordance with IADOT.

PART 3 EXECUTION

3.1 CONSTRUCTION REQUIREMENTS

3.1.1 Posts

a. Treat field cuts for wood posts with two coats of preservative applied with a brush or sprayer. The wood preservative in accordance with AASHTO M 133. Do not place field cuts in contact with the ground.

b. Place, secure, and plumb following manufacturer's recommendations.

Drill holes to the size necessary to achieve compaction in accordance with Section 31 00 00 FILL. Backfill and compact around the posts with topsoil (in accordance with Section 32 16 00 TOPSOIL ). Sand or other granular materials are prohibited for use as backfill material. Use concrete anchor bases or increased post lengths in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations and the Contracting Officer's recommendations in areas where circumstances do not allow for minimum burial depth or proper compaction to be performed.

c. Where it is not possible to maintain a 24-inch minimum distance between the back of the guardrail post and the top of a 1V:2H or steeper slope, increase the standard post length by 12 inches. Where an impenetrable object is encountered, use a short post with a concrete anchor, decrease the post spacing, or nest two rail elements as approved by the Contracting Officer. Do not change the post lengths and spacings in terminal sections.
