Mat Sinking Unit Fire Alarm System Replacement

Scope of Work

The Mat Sinking Unit requires the replacement of its two fire alarm systems on Quarterboats 9401 and

9501 to a more modern system. The existing systems on both of these quarterboat barges consist of

Siemens Ceberus Pyrotronics System 3 alarm panels. The existing panels indicate the location of the fire or trouble by giving the zone, which only narrows down the location to about 8 different detector locations. The Mat Sinking Unit requires replacing this current system with an addressable system that will indicate which specific device/location is in alarm state. The new panels shall be wired to all existing devices that the old panels were wired to including all detectors, horns, auxiliary panels, pull stations, etc. All new alarm equipment shall be installed in accordance with NFPA and OSHA requirements along with 46 CFR 161.002 to ensure it is approved for marine use by the Coast Guard.

The Mat Sinking Unit has three Quarterboat barges that are always tied together, each one with a separate alarm system. The Mat Sinking Unit requires the contractor to install the necessary equipment that will allow the alarm panel on each barge to communicate with each other and relay alarm messages between each other. The Mat Sinking Unit requires wireless equipment to be installed to reduce the need for complicated wiring between each barge. Both alarm panels are required to be identical to the new Notifier alarm panel on Quarterboat 9901, which is the NFS-640 so that information can be relayed between each panel. All equipment shall be UL certified.

The Mat Sinking Unit also requires new voice annunciator panels to be installed in the alarm panel room of each of the three Quarterboats. The current annunciator panels (Federal Signal SelecTone Command model 300SCW – 1 Series A allow for up to four tones/sounds to be played. The newly installed annunciator system should be able to make each barge go into alarm mode no matter which barge the alarm is on. The tones/sounds should then specify which barge the alarm is coming from. The Mat Sinking

Unit will require at least twelve different tone options as listed below:
