SECTION 01 00 00 - GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

The following have been modified:

SCOPE OF WORK

STATEMENT OF WORK

Mud Mountain Dam Stop Log Placement and Removal

(Equipment w/ Operator) Enumclaw, WA

REQUIREMENTS:

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mud Mountain Dam has a requirement for 3 total crane picks. (2) of the picks are on the upstream face (listed below as #1 & #3), the remaining pick (#2 below) will require a smaller crane to accomplish. We are seeking a properly sized (see below) crane with operator to install/ remove metal stop logs.

Access to both locations have a steep grade and will take time to traverse in and out; additional counterweights will need to be brought down on a smaller truck as a tractor trailer cannot traverse the grade and switch backs. Photos are provided showing the downstream side of the dam and the location of where the crane will need to be set up. A second photo shows the crane placing the stop log.

Contractor to verify all weights and radiuses prior to mobilization. A full walk through of all the lifts will be required prior to mobilization to ensure appropriate equipment is mobilized.

Attendance at the pre-bid site visit is highly recommended on Monday, May 20, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. (Local Time, Pacific).

Contractor will need to supply proper rigging gear to attach to the Govt’ provided lifting beam (shackles provided as seen in picture attached) at a weight of 104,00lbs (beam + largest stop log). Due to the inability to access the connection points, this beam is equipped with a pneumatic cylinder pin release mechanism and is required for picks #1 & #3. Mud Mountain project personnel will operate this device.

1. Pick #1: Requirements for (3) Items - Install Tunnel Entrance Stoplogs (100k @ 40 ft approximately)

Krupp-Demag AC345 or Similar (All-wheel Drive) Capable of lifting 100,000lbs at 40’

Crane rental with operator, rigger, and rigging gear required to install 3 tunnel entrance stoplogs on R-3 intake at Mud Mountain Dam. Movement of crane, counterweights, and all other required equipment down to bottom of dam @ 960 deck and back up present an additional challenge due to grade of road. Stoplogs to be installed, weigh approx. - Bottom - 80,0001bs / Middle - 72,0001bs / Top - 52,000Ibs. (Clean and dry)

Currently scheduling appears to be early to mid-July, 2024

2. Pick #2: Remove Downstream 9-foot Tunnel Stoplog

Grove 5175 or Similar to 175 Ton or Larger (8 Wheel Drive / Hydraulic Boom Crane / Rigger and gear to make the pick) Minimum of 18,000lbs lift capacity with an estimated radius of about 100'

Crane rental with operator, rigger, and rigging gear required to remove the 9-foot tunnel stoplog and place it on the 875 deck. Movement of crane, counterweights, and all other required equipment down to bottom of dam on the downstream side and back up present an additional challenge due to grade of road. Stoplog clean weight is approximately 11,000lbs, but the required pull on the stoplog may take the weight as high a 18,000lbs.

Currently scheduling appears to be late September, 2024

3. Pick #3: Remove Tunnel Entrance Stoplogs (100k @ 40 ft Approximately)

Krupp-Demag AC345 or Similar (All-wheel Drive) Capable of lifting 100,000lbs at 40’
