CONTINUATION PAGE

1. Question: Is the rock material supplied by the government?

a) If so where is it staged?

b) If not under what item is it paid?

Response: See attached revised staging area. (Attachment 1)

2. Question: Is there any geotechnical data available for estimating pile driving?

Response: No Geotechnical data is available; however, piles have recently been driven near the site with no issues.

3. Question: On Optional pay items 005 and 006 are we to price the mobilization sub item as if we completely demobilized and need to come back to site again with all the equipment? Or is this just needed to extend the hours if the work takes longer? Can you please elaborate on the intent of these option items and specifically the mobilization portion?

Response: Mobilization is intended to be awarded for one time operations. Time will be added if needed.

4. Question: Can any work be done from the levee bench? Such as staging rock material with the loader, excavating the toed area with a tracked excavator, staging pipe piles?

Response: No, All work shall be completed from the barge.

5. Question: Equipment required states needing a tug and barge capable of hauling 200 tons minimum, is this 200 tons of rock only? Or 200 tons including piles, crane, pile driver, rock material, and any other incidental equipment?

Response: Minimum additional 120 tons of load capacity for either rock and / or piles.

6. Question: Pile driving equipment spec calls for a 10,000 to 20,000 pound hammer weight. This is a very large hammer for piles this size. For example this would call for a Delmag model D25 minimum and a D36 maximum, which would typically be used for driving much larger piles. Traditionally diesel or air pile hammers sizes are specified by the rated energy measured in foot-pounds. Can you please verify this is what is required?

Response: Hammer shall be impact only type with noise reduction capabilities. Vibratory type hammers are not allowed due to concerns of soil liquefaction. Hammer shall capable of delivering enough energy to satisfactorily drive 10 inch piles of 40 foot length, safely. The pile driving operations will subject residents to noise exposure. The intent is to minimize the duration of the hammer driving while keeping soil slopes intact.

7. Question: Is there excavation required with the crane or just rock placement?

Response: There may be regarding need to place the rock.

8. Question: What is the loader for? Is this for loading rock onto the barge from the staging area? A loader will be needed for this operation, should we price one in addition to the one in the bid schedule?

Response: The loader is to tend the pile of rock at the staging to ensure the crane can load the barge.
