Comment Classification: Unclassified\\For Official Use Only (U\\FOUO)

The spec call out for k-12 crash rated gates. When the crash test are done they are normally done on much smaller gates than you are requiring. As I understand the size of the tested gates are the maximum size that cam be installed to meet the DOS certification without addition engineering .

This being the case can a crash gate that has been engineered by a Virginia licensed structural engineer specializing in crash rated equipment be used to design a site specific crash gate system for your gates as has been done at other local facilities?

On: Aug 20 2018.

Government Response. . The crash rated gate and manufacturer choice must be included in the latest edition of "The DOD Anti-Ram Vehicle Barrier List" as noted on sheet CS508. On: Aug 22 2018

7618202 Antiterrorism-Force Protection section 32 31 13.90

Comment Classification: Unclassified\\For Official Use Only (U\\FOUO)

Does the new fence have a crash rated cable system to match the adjacent gates ratings. If so can a engineered crash rated system that has been approved by the Corp of engineer at other army bases be used?

The specs reference Ameristar as the manufacture of the impasse with corrugated pales be used as pickets on the fence panels.

This is a sole source product where the pickets are bolted on as described.

The pickets can be pulled off by wedging a 2x4 between two pickets and applying minimal pressure breaking the bolts giving access to the secured side.

Can a fence panel be used that has 2" horizontal rails with 1" square pickets that are inserted into punched holes of the 2" to prevent the easy removal of the pickets which has a 4" spacing between the heavy pickets?

On: Aug 20 2018.

Government Response. . The security fence is not required to be crash rated.

The Contractor can choose an approved equal fence and manufacturer.

The fence is now modeled after the Montage II Genesis. Per amendment dated 8-09-19. On: Aug 22 2018

Comment Classification: Unclassified\\For Official Use Only (U\\FOUO)

Please reference ornamental fencing shown on drawing CS507:

1. Detail in the lower left corner of the drawing with concrete under the fence; in order to do this you would need a fence taller than 8'h. The max height of the Ameristar Montage is only 8'h which would mean that the top of the fence couldn't maintain a level appearance as shown.

2. Detail in the lower right corner of the drawing showing transitioning fence from ground level to the concrete retaining wall. The Ameristar Montage bottom rail cannot be adjusted to follow the slope.

3. Detail above the detail mentioned in question #2 showing stepping fence onto existing wall. We would have to double stack two Montage panels at this area.

4. If the Ameristar Aegis II Fence panels were used only in these areas listed above, only then would you achieve the look shown on the details – is this acceptable?

7636388 General Notes to Offerors

Comment Classification: Unclassified\\For Official Use Only (U\\FOUO)

Due to the current market volatility in materials pricing and skilled labor shortages, it does not seem fair and reasonable for contractors to hold Base Bid pricing valid for 180 days and Option 1 pricing valid for an additional 270 days. Please reconsider the length of time that pricing must be held valid.

On: Aug 30 2018.

Government Response. . Offers providing less than 180 calendar days will be changed to 90 calendar days for the Government acceptance. However, the time stated to exercise the option will remain at 270 calendar days after contract award. On: Aug 31 2018
