About this file

This document contains questions and answers regarding solicitation number W912DQ20R1074 for replacing and upgrading fifty-six electrical service distribution systems at campsites in the Sparrowfoot Public Use Area. The solicitation seeks a contractor to install electrical junction boxes, RV pedestals, wire, conduit and incidental materials. The contractor must provide all plant, labor, equipment and materials necessary for a complete installation, except for government furnished items. The questions and answers clarify that only one bid bond is required for the entire project; material and qualification submittals are not mandatory but can accompany proposals; iWatch training is administered by the contractor and records must be kept; and the existing service panels have a 65kAIC or 200kAIC rating at 240V.

Solicitation Q & A #1

1) Who does the bid bond need to be made out to? Do we need 3 bid bonds for the 3 items (service panels A, B, and C) or can we have one for the project as a whole?

Bid bonds are not made out to anyone, but they are submitted with the proposal to Laura Hedrick by the due date and time. You need only one to cover 20% of the whole proposed amount.

2) When submitting the proposal, do we need to also include the Material/Equipment list supplied by the contractor and the Certificates and qualifications?

They are not required at this time, but it doesn’t hurt to turn them in with the proposal to show that you have the resources to fulfill the requirements.

3) Is the iWatch training something to register and attend online or is it a self-administered study with the contractor being the overseer?

The iWatch training falls on the contractor to ensure that their employees have done the training. There should be a website provided and you should take records of when your employees have done the training. There is a poster that needs to be put up on a board at the job site as well.

4) Referencing Panelboard Data and existing breaker schedule. The 80A/2p breakers are being replaced with 100A/2p breakers. You can only mount up to total of 140A for 2 breakers mounted across from one another. The current mounting set up already exceeds the 140A in that the total amperage is 160Amps. Mounting 2 100’s across from each other the total amperage is 200Amps. Mounting more than 140A total could create an overheating situation and problems down the line. Breakers could be staggered but would require a 40 circuit panel and these are only 30 circuit panels.

The existing service panel is acceptable to use and breaker schedule is to be installed as scheduled.

5) Referencing Panelboard Data – What is the AIC Rating for the existing panels?

Fully Rated 65kAIC at 240V and Series rated 200kAIC at 240V
