SECTION SF 30 BLOCK 14 CONTINUATION PAGE

SUMMARY OF CHANGES

SECTION SF 30 - BLOCK 14 CONTINUATION PAGE

The following have been added by full text:

QUESTION AND ANSWERS:

Q1 - The request is asking for a differential GPS system with dual antennas. Was there a specific model in mind for that unit? What is the intended purpose of "dual"antennas.

There are DGPS units that use a combined GPS and differential antenna such as the Furuno DGPS 170 and GPA012S antenna.

A1 - No specific brand of GPS is required. Rosepoint ECS requires heading. The dual antennas are required to provide a heading output to the ECS computer running Rose Point. A single antenna with 2 GPS receivers or a satellite compass is acceptable if it provides position and heading.

Q2 - Was the requirement for two complete redundant GPS units or a single GPS unit with the ability to switch to a second antenna in the event an antenna is physically broken?

A2 - The statement " The Contractor shall provide and install 2 fully operational GPS Marine positioning and navigation systems" refers to the need to install one system on each vessel. Only one GPS unit per vessel is required. Redundant systems are not required.

Q3 - The requirement is also for heading, but no heading device is specified. Will the vessels have a gyrocompass and/or autopilot installed and could we tap the gyro output for heading data? Do you want a dedicated heading source for the ECS such as a satellite compass? Could the sat compass also be the backup GPS source?

A3 - Neither vessel has equipment capable of providing heading information. Separate position and heading devices are not required. The intent is for the GPS to provide the position and heading information to the ECS computer running Rose Point. A satellite compass is acceptable if it provides position and heading.

Q4 - Does the vessel have a 12 or 24 volt power system, or just AC?

A4 - Both vessels have 12 VDC, 24 VDC and 120 VAC in the pilot house. 12 VDC, 24 VDC and 120 VAC is also available in the engine room.

Q5 - Some photos of the bridge of the vessel would be useful to determine a mounting location for the equipment and appropriate monitor mounting system (articulating arm, fixed mount etc). Photos would be useful of equipment mounting cabinets, topsides where antennas should be located, bulkheads for wire runs, general layout of the bridge area, etc.

A5 - See attached photo of the MV Jumbo and MV Stephenson II exterior (NOTE: photo includes the MV Stephenson which is NOT part of this solicitation). Interior photos are of the MV Stephenson II. No interior photos are available for the MV Jumbo.

Q6 - Does the system require a pilot plug?

A6 - The solicitation is for a complete operational navigation system on both vessels. If a pilot plug is required to provide a complete operational system, one should be provided.

Q7 - AIS would be very useful on a system like this, is there an AIS transceiver on the vessel and will it be integrated into the ECS?

A7 - Both vessels have AIS. The installation is a stand-alone system and will not require interfacing any existing sensors.

Q8 - What is the deadline for completion of the job?

A8 - The period of performance is 60 days after the date of the contract for both vessels.

Q1 - On this bid to install Rose Point on two vessels, we need to know if the vessels have an AIS already onboard and if so what is the manufacturer and model of the AIS on each vessel. In order to provide the bid we need to know this type of equipment and what wiring harnesses to provide.

A1 - Both vessels have AIS, Furuno FA-150 and McMurdo Smartfind M5. The installation is a stand-alone system and will not require interfacing any existing sensors.
