The Contractor shall be responsible for verifying all dimensions of existing structures and appurtenances. Once installed, the new gates and new gate frame seals shall provide a seal that allows less than 1 gallons per minute leakage per gate. The contractor shall provide a technical representative to be present during testing of newly installed gates and gate frame seals. The technical representative(s) shall make the necessary adjustments (i.e. field milling and/or adjustment of the seals) to ensure the less than 1 gpm leakage per gate criterion is met. Final payment shall not be made until the CO or ACO has verified that the less than 1 gpm leakage per gate criterion has been met for each gate.

The Contractor shall provide all necessary facilities (gates, fences, gravel, office trailers, storage buildings, fuel tanks, etc.) and utilities. The Government will provide no facilities. The Contractor shall obliterate all facilities and return the area to its pre-contract state (including grading and turfing) before the contract is deemed to be complete by the Government. Payment may be withheld pending acceptable obliteration of these Contractor provided/erected facilities.
The Contractor may propose to perform the work at a remote location within 40 road miles of Canton Dam. Approval of work at the remote location shall be subject to the sole approval of the ACO, with no explanation of denial necessary.
3.4 TRANSPORTATION OF GATES
The Contractor is advised to exercise great caution while placing and lifting the gates to and from the transport trailer. These gates were originally transported in an upright position, and do not have dedicated lifting eyes installed. Instead, there is a hoist connection plate at the top of the gate, and a great amount of stress is placed on the gate during the vertical-to-horizontal transition.
