AMENDMENT 1 Q&A'S
AMENDMENT 1
W912BU20Q0012
Q&A for 20Q0012
Q-1 Can the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers make an exception to the API monogram requirement if the crane is designed and built to API 2C Standards?
A-1 No. The API Monogram must remain as a requirement. We seek this on all cranes built for USACE. The requirement is also called out in EM385.
Q-2 Please help us understand why the specification includes an overturning moment limitation with no load, as the common method, is for overturning limitations to be specified with loads, due to vessel stability considerations.
A-2 Due to the narrow beam of the vessel onto which this crane will be placed, a very unique load chart will be determined upon delivery. This load chart will be de-rated from the manufacturer's issued floating service load charts into an azimuth based floating service load chart based on the stability of the vessel. As a result, the contract language as it stands now was the clearest way to communicate the performance requirements for the crane as will stand as written.
Q-3 Would a hinged door be acceptable in place of a sliding door?
A-3 Hinged door will be acceptable in lieu of a sliding door
Q-4 The way this is stated makes it a little confusing, first line says "shall be stainless steel" but the second line says " all hydraulic and other protected by tape". I don't believe you would install tape on stainless.
Are galvanized fittings with Densyl tape acceptable?
A-4 Galvanized fittings will not be accepted. Fittings shall be as per the contract.
Q-5 Our cranes do not have foot pedals for braking, dynamic braking is done by slewing in the opposite direction. The swing brake is a parking brake activated with a push button on the joysticks. Will this be acceptable?
W912BU20Q0012
A-5 Crane braking - the brakes shall be as per the contract requirements. A foot brake is required.
Q-6 For E under C003 Performance Requirements, is the value of 170,000 ft-lbs correct?
A-6 : 170,000 ft-lbs is the correct value for the deadweight moment of the machine with the boom/arm fully extended.
