Answer: Strainers are located onboard the vessel, sea chests are located on the vessel exterior
QUESTION 9.Please give theoretical example of how to determine "Admin and Supervisor Support
(TP1.01-1.12) Insert rate:_______% and basis".
Answer: Costs such as rent, management salaries, clerical support staff, insurance, utilities, etc., which are incurred by or allocated to a business unit and which are for the administration and supervision of the business as a whole and have no direct relationship to the contract can not be charged to the contract. (These costs are necessary to the overall operation of the business although a direct relationship to the group cannot be shown.) This is expressed as a percentage or dollar factor that demonstrates the ratio between the expense allocable to the contract effort and the total base.
It is calculated for a given time period by dividing actual/historical expenses against the base.
AS% = expense/total base.
Theoretical example: Offeror A – has total administrative and supervisor support costs (rent, management salaries, clerical support staff, insurance, utilities, etc.,) of $1,000,000.00. The sum of the expenses during a similar period of performance/scope of work was $125,000.00.
Step 1: Calculate the % rate: $125,000.00/$1,000,000.00 = 12.5%
Step 2: Determine the basis. Sum the line item included in the group. Total - TP 1.01 -1.12 = $50,000.
Step 3: Calculate the amount: $50,000.00 x 12.5% = $6,250.00
NOTE: Indefinite items may use a higher percentage, dependent how much more or less of an effort is allocated.
