During Oahe’s Unit 6 maintenance outage, the mechanics identified bearing damage on the trailing edge on 9 of the 14 bearing shoes. Tech support branch is preparing a contract to pour new babbit material. The Oahe units have had a history of runner split line gaps, cooler leaks, high pressure lift failures, and exciter stray currents; all of which could cause bearing issues.
