Text version

Q1: The extruded aluminum have advantages over copper edge tension wound because the copper fin will delaminate over time, whilst the extruded aluminum are a solid piece of aluminum. I have attached a brochure on our fin tube. Can you have your engineer looks at this information and approve extruded aluminum fin tube?

A1: Aluminum has at best 60% of the thermal conductivity of copper, at worst 40%, and we just don’t have room in the thrust tub to increase the surface area to make up the difference.

Q2: What is the maximum temperature of the system?

A2: I believe the operating temperature was specified in the advertisement package. I can track it down if not.

Q3: Do the fins need to be solder dipped?

A3: Yes, the fins should be soldered. I didn’t realize unsoldered was an option, or I would have specified.

Q4: There are six intermediate supports in each cooler half, to which support(s) are the test coupons to be mounted near?

A4: Looking from the outside, it will be the support, just to the right of center.

Q5: Do the four test coupons need to be part of one of the outer most tubes, or one test coupon in each of four different outer most tubes?

A5: One in each of the four outer most tubes.

Q6: Are metal ferrule compression fittings acceptable for the test coupon connections?

A6: Yes.
