AMD 0001 (Q&A)

Project: Bolio Sidewalks Solicitation: W9124N-19-B-0001 Q&A:

1. Does the contractor pay for the Archeologist?

Yes.

2. In order to avoid extended the exiting retaining wall at the tie-in to the 3’ sidewalk, some conforming grading will be required. Please confirm this is acceptable.

Yes, this is acceptable; however, an Archaeologist and Tribal Monitor shall be on site at all times of soil disturbance, per SOW paragraphs 2.1.h and 5.2.a.

3. There is a survey monument or pin in the existing swale to be removed. Will this need to reset by a licensed land surveyor or can it be destroyed?

The survey pin is not required to be reset.

4. The board walk is in an area with a significant cross slope. On the street side the precast beam can be set near exiting grade on drilled/dug precast piers. On the down slope side the piers will have to be several feet taller, can these be extended with a cast-in-place method, as each one will need to be slightly different in height based on the variations of the existing contours and your desire to minimize grading in the culturally sensitive area?

A registered professional engineer shall design the concrete boardwalk structure and foundation piers, per SOW paragraph 2.1.t.

Cast-in-place is acceptable as long as the concrete structural integrity, color, and desired grading to meet the contour of the existing soil surface is met.

5. You call for a wildlife exclusion fence on the boardwalk. On the street side the precast beam could be set near grade and with very minor grading and gaps could be filled with dirt, is this acceptable? On the low side do you want the fence attached to the board walk or a free-standing fence on post adjacent? What type of fence do you want, chain link?

W9124N19B0001

Per SOW paragraph 5.6, the boardwalk (raised sidewalk) must include enclosure or mesh to prevent creating animal habitat. Chain link or other “fence” is not acceptable.

Mitigation measures must be maintainable (easily replaceable in the event of damage by animals). Soil disturbance in the boardwalk section of the project must be kept to a minimum due to the cultural significance of the area.

6. It said during the walk through no color in boardwalk, but here’s the spec:

E. All precast shall consist of integrally colored concrete in a color selected by the owner.

Can you please strike out E. in an addendum?

This specification section will remain.
