Enhanced Sentinel Radar on a Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTV)

(NSN: 1430016206499)

Covers must meet or exceed the following Specifications:

Size / Dimensions: the cover must fit the AN/MPQ 64A3 Enhanced Sentinel Radar on a Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTV). Covers will be used when equipment is in transit, parked outside, between use, and / or when it is in the elements.

QTY: 22 Each

Color: TAN

Tie downs the cover system shall include built-in tie downs

Installation. The entire cover system shall be installable by 2 persons within 10 minutes.

Wind. The cover system shall remain secured on the howitzer and not be damaged at wind speeds up to 75 miles per hour.

Waterproof. The cover system shall protect against water penetration up to a 10 meter hydrostatic column.

Moisture Vapor Transmission Rate (MVTR). The cover system shall allow moisture to escape from underneath at a minimum rate of 3000 grams / squared meter / 24 hours.

Drainage. The cover system shall allow for drainage and prevent pooling without any special rigging procedures.

Thermal protection. The cover system shall prevent the protected equipment from reaching temperatures that exceed 112% of ambient temperature.

Glossiness. The cover system shall be low gloss on the side intended to be exposed or both sides if reversible. The gloss reading at 60 degrees shall be no greater than 5 units.

Tensile strength (warp direction). The cover system shall have a minimum tensile strength of 350 pounds / inch in the warp direction.

Tensile strength (fill direction). The cover system shall have a minimum tensile strength of 300 pounds / inch in the fill direction.

Seam strength The cover system seams shall have a minimum strength of 30 pounds per inch width

Tensile elongation. The cover system shall have an elongation breaking point of no less than 30%.

Tear resistance (warp direction). The cover system shall have a minimum tear resistance of 20 pounds force in the warp direction.

Tear resistance (fill direction). The cover system shall have a minimum tear resistance of 23 pounds force in the fill direction.

Abrasion. The cover system shall resist up to 19,000 abrasion cycles.

Bursting strength/puncture resistance. The cover system shall have a minimum bursting strength of 3114 Newtons (700 pounds force) and puncture resistances of 333.6 Newtons and 1112 Newtons (75 and 250 pounds force) for the screwdriver and rod probes, respectively.

Resistance to accelerated aging. The cover system shall not experience color change, nor increased softness, stiffness, tackiness, or brittleness when exposed to accelerated aging.

Operating environmental requirements.

Flexibility. The cover system shall be usable and packable at temperatures between 51.7°C (125°F) and -40°C (-40°F).

UV radiation. The cover system shall meet the waterproof requirement, the MVTR requirement, 10,000 cycles of the abrasion test and maintain 60% of all strength characteristics after 100% exposure to solar UV radiation for 1000 hours.

Corrosion reduction. The cover system fabric material shall reduce corrosion formation by 90% or more when compared to uncovered samples for a period of 40 cycles in accelerated corrosion.

Resistance to low temperatures. The cover system shall provide acceptable uninterrupted performance, without deterioration, in ambient air temperatures down to -45.6°C (- 50 °F). The performance of the cover system material shall not deteriorate at temperature extremes for exposure duration of up to 12 months.

Resistance to high temperatures. The cover system material shall provide acceptable uninterrupted performance, without deterioration, at temperatures up to 76.7°C (170°F). The performance of the cover system material shall not deteriorate at temperature extremes for exposure duration of up to 12 months. Additionally, the cover system material shall be capable of being stored, without degradation of performance, for two years at a time at temperatures that may cycle daily to 60°C (140°F).

Mildew resistance. The cover system shall not exhibit growth of mildew or fungus (0 rating), when subjected to a fungi laden atmosphere at 27.8 - 30°C (82 - 86°F), at not less than 85% relative humidity for 28 days.

Flame resistance. The cover system shall not melt at temperatures up to 104°C (219.2°F) and will not ignite at temperatures up to 400°C (752°F).

Size / Dimensions: the cover must fit the AN/MPQ 64A3 Enhanced Sentinel Radar on a Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTV). Covers will be used when equipment is in transit, parked outside, between use, and / or when it is in the elements.
