Another potential placement configuration is setting the pumper trailer onto a Government barge which will minimize the length of pumping hose. See attached sketch.

g. The heavy-duty flexible hose shall be primed/greased utilizing a plug ("pig", "ball") by the Trailer Mounted Concrete Pump operator prior to pumping the Underwater Concrete.

a. The Government will be placing Underwater Concrete in formwork that is submerged approximately 14 ft in water. Government divers will position and control the end of the heavy-duty flexible hose from the Trailer Mounted Concrete Pump to place the underwater concrete in the forms. The placement will continue until it reaches the required elevation.

b. The anticipated design mix of the Underwater Concrete is attached; this underwater mix design was used by the Pittsburgh District in 2014 and 2015 with good results.

3.0 PUMPING SCHEDULE

3.1 Underwater Concrete Pumping

a. The actual amount of Underwater Concrete pumped will be between 10 and 20 cubic yards depending on the underwater conditions and formwork requirements. Each concrete placement will be a Minimum of 2 cubic yards. A total of 1 – 6 days rental of the Trailer Mounted Concrete Pump may be required to complete the entire Underwater Concrete Pumping Operation, some days requiring an operator and some days on standby without an operator. If more than 1 day is required to complete the Underwater Concrete Pumping, the operations will most likely occur on consecutive days. It is anticipated that the Trailer Mounted Concrete Pump, heavy-duty flexible hoses, and assemblies be delivered to the site 1 – 3 days prior to the actual Underwater Concrete placement in order for the Government to determine the best location for the Trailer Mounted Concrete Pump, to assemble the hoses and possibly perform a “dry-run” moving the heavy-duty flexible hose assembly utilizing a crane (It is anticipated that the operator will not be needed on the setup day).

b. The concrete pumping operations will occur sometime between 25 July and 12 August 2016 during the weekdays. It is not anticipated that concrete will be placed on any weekends.
