REQUEST FOR INFORMATION
Install Onity HT24 Lockset
RFI’s
Contractor question
1. The kick plates on the doors in building 2449 are bright brass. The Unity locks are dull chrome finish, therefore, will the spring loaded hinges also be dull chrome color (US26D)?
DPW Engineering response: The hinges shall be submitted to match the Onity Lock finish of Satin Nickel.
Contractor question
2. Building 2420, should we replace all the hinges with new spring loaded hinges? Our professional recommendation is replace all spring loaded hinges.
DPW Engineering response: No, adjust hinges and only replace hinges that are not working.
Contractor question
3. When can we expect the building print layout to help with the handing of the locks?
DPW Engineering response: It should be going to you with the RFI answers.
Contractor question
4. What doors, in particular, have been identified for immediate replacement?
DPW Engineering response: Please see Floor Plan.
Contractor question
5. The cheaper alternative to the mortise lock version of the Onity lock is the cylindrical type. On building 2420 - would a wraparound plate be acceptable with a cylindrical lock type set-up, potentially saving thousands of dollars for the customer. Further, in Building 2449, the Onity locks being used will be the cylindrical type due to the knob locks that are being replaced.
DPW Engineering response: Install mortise type locks with deadbolt on all doors.
Contractor question
6. How many doors require a panic device set up?
DPW Engineering response: 1 at 2420 (1 double door) and 2 at 2449 (1 single door and 1 double door)
7. Door trim: What exactly is needed on the replacement doors? Kick plates? Peep holes?
Etc.
DPW Engineering response: New door, lock, kick plate, peepholes and hinges. If the door has a name tag holder, install the existing name tag holder on the new door.
Contractor question
8. What is the fire rating on the replacement doors?
DPW Engineering response: Match the fire rating on the existing doors.
Contractor question
9. Bldg. 2449- Change the existing cylindrical type locks to Mortise type locks with the deadbolt function? If so, the existing doors will need to be cut/prep to fit the mortise type locks.
DPW Engineering response: Yes, change the existing cylindrical type locks to Mortise type locks with the deadbolt function.
Contractor question
10. Bldg. 2449- Do we need to add self-closing hinges to the bid?
DPW Engineering response: Yes, add spring loaded hinges to the bid as per changes to scope of work.
Contractor question
11. A list of which doors that need to be replaced is needed.
DPW Engineering response: See floor plan.
Contractor question
12. Need to verify if the finish of locks will be 26D/Satin Chrome
DPW Engineering response: The finish is Satin Nickel.
Contractor question
13. To treat/repair the doors, do you want us to use Lacquer or Varnish?
* We recommend Lacquer since it's more durable and more resistant against humidity.
* In addition, Lacquer dries quicker.
DPW Engineering response: Lacquer.
14. If one of the commercial spring hinges is damaged, do you want us to replace all three or just the damaged ones?
DPW Engineering response: No, adjust hinges and only replace hinges that are not working.
Contractor question
15. We noticed that the commercial spring hinges on various doors are different color/material. Since the Onity HT24 Lockset requested comes in satin chrome, do you want us to replace all the hinges that are not satin chrome to match the lockset, even if they are not damaged, for consistency?
DPW Engineering response: No, adjust hinges and only replace hinges that are not working.
Contractor question
16. We noticed that the kick plates on various doors are different color/material. Do you want us to use the same ones or replace them with satin chrome, for consistency?
DPW Engineering response: Only replace the kick plates on doors that are replaced.
Contractor question
17. On the documentation provided, on Page 64, the Onity HT 24 Lockset states that they are "for non-fire rated doors only". The existing doors have a 20-minute fire rating. Please let us know if you still want to use this specific Lockset.
* This can be a security issue.
DPW Engineering response: According to the Manufacturer, “The HT24 is fire rated in accordance with UL10C.” Could the “for non-fire rated doors only” be for the type of batteries?
Contractor question
18. Can you please provide the number of doors that will need to be replaced, including those that are bent?
DPW Engineering response: Please see floor plan.
Contractor question
19. If any of the metal door frames are damaged and need replacement, will there be a budget set-aside for the additional work?
DPW Engineering response: No, there is no budget set-aside for the additional work.
20. For both Onity OnPoint Encoder computer systems, will we be using the existing duplex receptacles or electrify a new electrical circuit?
DPW Engineering response: Use existing duplex receptacles.
The following have been modified:
