AAA.3. Requirements:

AAA.3.1. Prior to any blasting as specified in this item, all hull openings, hatches, vents or other openings to the interior of the vessel shall be blanked off and sealed to prevent entry of abrasive blasting material. Pay particular attention to the one (1) fathometer transducer located forward near the centerline. Furnish and attach protective metal disc covers over the transducer.

AAA.3.2. Prior to blasting, weld all hull markings for permanent identification, to include draft marks and vessel name.

AAA.5.2. Abrasive blast to near white metal (SSPC-SP10), all exterior underwater hull plate surfaces, to include rudders and appendages (excluding propellers, propeller shafts) from the centerline and up to the main deck rubrail.

AAA.6. Inspection:

AAA.6.1. Prior to application of any paints, prepared surfaces will be inspected by the Marine Surveyor.

AAA.6.2. Contractor and Marine Surveyor shall perform a joint inspection and hammer test on each thru hull opening. Contractor shall submit a written report to Marine Surveyor within seven (7) working days of conditions found, defects, repairs, corrective action, labor and material costs, if applicable.
