Q: Will the government provide a design for the roof to meet the 150 lbs/SF requirement?, Specific Task 5.2.03. page 52 of 59.
A: There will not be a design provided; however, the existing configuration may be matched with like materials of equal or greater strength and durability. The roof is designed to meet the load requirements given joist material, spacing, and decking. The same specifications may be transferred to the new deck.
Q: Will the government provide a framing design for the "existing storage enclosure"?;
see Specific Tasks 5.3.01, page 52 of 59.
A: No. The storage enclosure will not be independently modified other than to tie the new stairwell enclosure together and roof accordingly.
Q: Who will identify "any structural concerns" and who will determine how each will be
"remediated"?; see Specific Tasks 5.4.02, page 52 of 59.
A: The Department of Public Works will review any structural concerns and plans for remediation as they are identified if necessary. Remediation with regards to this contract is limited to within the scope of work and materials as bid. Concerns regarding structural safety as the building exists will be addressed through DPW.

A: A specific design will not be provided due to various dimensions. Existing fenestrations will be framed within the metal wall framing. The additional framing will be constructed of wood and include two layers – one firmly fixed to the existing metal frame and a secondary that will be nailed to the primary wood frame. The concept is that the interior wood frame will damage before the metal frames are damaged or deformed.
Q: Will the government provide a design for the decking /flooring to meet the 150 lbs/SF requirement?, see Specific Tasks 5.6.04, page 53 of 59.
A: There will not be a design provided; however, the existing configuration may be matched with like materials of equal or greater strength and durability. The roof is designed to meet the load requirements given joist material, spacing, and decking. The same specifications may be transferred to the new deck.
Q: Are there any design drawings for this project or are there any as-built drawings for this project?
A: No.
Q: What material is referred to in Specific Task 5.5.02, as "only bult [sic] up with heavy duty, reinforced framing."? see question 4. above.
A: Same requirements as specified in 5.5.01, wood.
Q: If any design work is required of the contractor what design criteria / standard are the expected to meet?
A: This is a training building and is not subject to conventional construction standards.
Designs that modify the structure will be subject to DPW approval as needed for safety purposes.
