Threshold Objective
Activation System shall be ready to record data after exit from the aircraft and activate the reserve canopy deployment sequence when activation criteria are met
System shall possess the ability to automatically turn off data collection after activation
Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3)
The EEAAD shall not be subject to premature or inadvertent activation from E3 effects in accordance with MIL‐STD‐464C, Electromagnetic Environmental Effects Requirements for Systems
The EEAAD will have a maximum no‐fire current of 180 mA with a resistance between 1.2 and 1.8 ohms
Reading of Information
System shall allow flight and maintenance data to be read at the unit level by maintainer/rigger

Data Storage System shall maintain flight data for 120 days or 45 operations before requiring downloading
System shall maintain flight data for 180 days or 90 operations before requiring downloading. System will provide notification when system has reached its storage capacity and data download is required
Flight Data System shall collect data for operations to include but not limited to: total number of operations since placed in service, number of activations, exit altitude, terminal speed, changes in speed, opening shock, parachute deployment altitude
System shall collect data for operations and all flight data from aircraft exit to landing to include but not limited to:
total number of operations since placed in service, number of activations, exit altitude, descent rate throughout flight, altitude throughout flight, opening shock, parachute deployment altitudes, jumper orientation
Maintenance Data
Shall provide placed in service date and next scheduled maintenance
System shall allow input of data related to maintenance of the parachute to include but not limited to: placed in service date, repack dates, packer and in‐ process inspector information
Hardware & Software
System shall include hardware and software to read, format, and visualize data

Data Connection Data shall be readable via hard wire connection
Data shall be readable via hard wire and non‐wired connection
Battery System shall have six year battery life and be replaceable at the unit level
System shall have greater than six year battery life
Size Control unit shall fit into a pouch 1 x 1 x 3 inches; processing unit shall fit into a pouch 3.35 x 1.70 x 1.26 inches

System shall weigh no more than 24 ounces
System shall weigh less than 16 ounces
Life Cycle 12 years from placed in service date 20 years from placed in service date
Maintenance Maintenance. System shall require manufacturer’s maintenance no earlier than six (6) years from placed in service date. System shall display reminder of upcoming maintenance to be performed

Ambient Temperature
Shall function installed in parachute system exposed to temperatures from ‐25 to +140 degrees Fahrenheit
Shall function installed in parachute system exposed to temperatures from ‐ 50 to +140 degrees Fahrenheit
Compatibility Shall be compatible with all current US Military Ram Air personnel parachutes

Self‐Test Shall have self‐test and fault identification capability
System shall display error message for identified faults
System Turn‐Off Shall have manual turn‐off and automatic turn‐off capability when not in use
System shall possess a visual alert 15 minutes prior to automatic shut‐off
Reserve Closing Loop Cutter
Shall have capability to cut the reserve closing loop. Cutter shall be field replaceable
System shall possess a reusable cutter assembly
Water Immersion Shall be able to withstand immersion for 10 minutes at 2 meters (salt water) and able to be restored to normal operation at the unit level
Shall be able to withstand immersion for 30 minutes at 2 meters (salt water) and able to be restored to normal operation at the unit level
Virtual DZ Setting System shall allow for setting a virtual DZ to designate activation at a remote DZ

System shall provide a formula and calculator for determining virtual DZ settings
