Additional requirements include a programmable C-axis with 0.001 degree positioning accuracy and 200 RPM rapid indexing, a programmable B-axis with minimum 240 degrees rotational travel and 0.0001 degree positioning increments, and axis travel distances of minimum 750 mm (X), 1,150 mm (Z), and 230 mm (Y) with rapid traverse rates of at least 36 m/min. The machine must provide axis thrust of minimum 9,421 N continuous and 14,132 N intermittent on linear axes.
The contractor shall supply an automatic tool changer with minimum 60-tool capacity and maximum 1.7-second tool change time, capable of accommodating tooling up to 75 mm diameter, 300 mm length, and 8 kg weight. The machine must fit within a maximum footprint of 4,615 mm (L) × 2,285 mm (W) × 2,630 mm (H) and operate on 205-235 VAC, three-phase, 60 Hz electrical service drawing no more than 175 amps at 220 VAC. Positioning accuracy and repeatability specifications are detailed for all axes and rotational elements. The contractor must provide a high-pressure coolant system (minimum 20 bar and separate 1,000 psi system with 42-gallon reservoir), coolant chiller (minimum 34,000 BTU capacity), chip conveyor with coolant recovery, mist collection system, hydraulic steady-rest system, workpiece probing system, electrical cabinet climate control (minimum 2,000 BTU), and hydraulic workholding on both spindles. The delivery package includes freight, delivery, rigging, offloading, installation, anchoring, leveling, grouting, machine startup, and commissioning to Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. The contractor shall provide operator training at the Government installation, a minimum one-year warranty covering labor, and a minimum two-year warranty covering the CNC control system. The contracting officer is Eddie Kemp, signed 8/5/2026.
