About this file
This document is a Salient Characteristics Sources Sought for a specialized robotic manufacturing system. The U.S. Army is seeking a Robotic Laser Wire Directed Energy Deposition (DED) Machine with specific technical requirements, including a robotic arm with a 190 kg load capacity, 2000 mm reach, six-axis operation, and +/- 0.03 mm repeatability accuracy. The system must be capable of printing with stainless steel, titanium, and nickel superalloys, and include a work bench positioner, wire feeder, digital slicer program license, cooling and shielding gas systems, and individual control units.
The procurement is for a single unit to be delivered and installed at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland, with additional requirements including comprehensive security and access protocols for contractor personnel. The system must interface with design software like RoboDK and Siemens NX, meet ISO9283 standards, and be a turnkey solution ready for immediate operation. The solicitation is a pre-solicitation (Sources Sought) under solicitation number W911QX-25-Q-0086 from the Department of the Army Materiel Command Army Contracting Command at Aberdeen Proving Ground.
