Performance Work Statement (PWS)

Preventive Maintenance of Perkin Elmer Nexion 2000 ICPMS 23 February 2024

C.1 BACKGROUND

In support of its mission and customer programs, the Metals Branch (MB) of the Army Research Laboratory (ARL) relies upon Perkin Elmer Nexion 2000 Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometer (ICP-MS) which is a specialized instrument designed to determine the concentration of elements in dissolved liquids with part per trillion (ppt) detection limits. This is an extraordinarily complex instrument with hardware and software that require regular maintenance to remain operational and meet performance parameters such as the ability to detect particular elements and the ability to detect part-per-trillion (ppt) level concentrations of some elements. This high resolution and low detection limit require precise and routine calibrations. The preventative maintenance service contract that is requested will be for a service contract period of one (1) base year along with two (2) option years. The Perkin Elmer Nexion 2000 ICPMS is currently located at the Army Research Laboratory in Aberdeen, MD which is where performance will take place.
