About this file

This document contains a solicitation for a 5G testbed with two-year warranty. The Army Contracting Command, Aberdeen Proving Ground is seeking one 5G testbed that supports sub-6GHz and millimeter wave frequencies across multiple bands, with integrated or external antennas, 2x2 or 4x4 MIMO, and both non-standalone and standalone configurations. Offers are due within five business days via email, with delivery required by October 21, 2022 to White Sands Missile Range. The acquisition will be set aside for small businesses but may be opened to all businesses if no acceptable small business offers are received. The award will be made based on a comparative evaluation of price, technical capabilities meeting requirements, past performance, and additional factors.

W911QX-22-Q-0148 Solicitation Questions

1. RFQ is asking for sub6 Gigahertz (GHz) and Millimeter Wave (mmWave) band support (100-Megahertz (MHz) channel bandwidth (BW)). Can we choose any 100-Megahertz (MHz) channel within the C band? For millimeter wave (mmwave), can we choose any 100-Megahertz (MHz) channel within n260?

GOVERNMENT RESPONSE: Preferred sub-6GHz Bands: 2, 5, 25, 41, 66, 71, 77, 260, 261 SA/NSA. Any channel within the n260 is acceptable.

1. RFQ is asking for Non-Standalone (NSA) and Standalone (SA) support. Is the expectation that the testbed will be configured for either Non-Standalone (NSA) or Standalone (SA) at a time with support for both configurations?

GOVERNMENT RESPONSE: Yes, requesting both NSA and SA capabilities. User should have the ability to select from either of these two options.

1. RFQ is asking for system antennas. Would the radio with integrated antenna meet this requirement or do you require separate antennas?

GOVERNMENT RESPONSE: External antennas are preferred in order to adjust the effective radiated power of the transmit signal but integrated antennas are fine as long as the power level of the signals transmitted are at the expected power levels at the receiver (user equipment).

1. RFQ is asking for Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) support however it does not specify 2x2 or 4x4 or other Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) configurations. Is there a requirement for specific Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) configuration?

GOVERNMENT RESPONSE: 2x2 MIMO with option to upgrade to 4x4 MIMO.

1. Is the radio / antennas going to be placed inside a Radio Frequency (RF) shield box or is it going to be Over the Air (OTA) testbed (radiating over the air)?

GOVERNMENT RESPONSE: Primary test environment will be an anechoic chamber (big RF shielded box) and signals will be transmitted over the air. This technology may also be used in open air testing (field environment) and/or laboratory environment (hardware-in-the-loop).
