Salient Characteristics
Commercial Availability Certification:
I have evaluated the commercial marketplace and determined that all of the salient characteristics documented below are available in products/services offered in the commercial marketplace.
Signature (typed name): Muthuvel Murgan The government requires a humidification system for humidifying air supply to the combustor of the Army Research Laboratory (ARL’s) Jet Burner Test Rig. This test rig is used for testing materials under high temperatures and high velocities that are similar to gas turbine combustor exit conditions. The contractor shall provide a turn-key high-temperature gas humidification system that meets or exceeds the following requirements:
· The system shall be capable of injecting humidity into high pressure existing laboratory air supply pipe connecting to the existing laboratory combustor through steam or water vapor ingestion. The air supply line pressure is 125 pounds per square inch gauge (psig), gauge pressure eight and one half (8.5) bar, and the mass flow is up to 0.35 kilograms per second (kg/s). The laboratory air supply is dry and at ambient temperature (typical room temperature can vary from 60 degrees Fahrenheit to 100 degrees Fahrenheit).
· The system shall be capable of humidifying inlet dry air at room temperature from one percent (1%) to 100% relative humidity at 125 psig supply pressure condition. The steam delivery piping shall have adjustable pressure range to control steam or water vapor ingestion flow-rate, steam temperature with a relative humidity sensor to monitor the relative humidity in the air supply pipe. The system shall be capable of humidifying the air supply from 1% to 100% relative humidity with an accuracy of five percent (5%) RH or better and controllable with a relative humidity sensor installed in the air supply line.
· The system shall produce steam or water vapor at output pressures of nine (9) bar (132.3 psig) or higher with variable output pressure option with an accuracy of 0.25 bar or better.
· The system shall have an external humidity sensor allowing for control of humidity in a separate chamber in the air supply piping to the combustor.
· The system shall be capable of providing high pressure steam or water vapor input to the laboratory air supply pipe at greater than 125 psig (gauge pressure) through a ¼-inch quick-connect, Swagelok compression fitting, or National Pipe Thread (NPT) connector together with a mass flow meter. The steam delivery tube shall be heated, made of high temperature capable material, and thermally insulated to not allow moisture condensation in the piping lines and fittings and to ensure long-term operational durability.
· The laboratory water supply is at a pressure of up to 35 pounds per square inch absolute pressure (psia). The system shall be capable of accepting deionized water at supply pressures up to 35 psia through a ¼-inch quick-connect, Swagelok compression fitting, or NPT connector. This water can be used for steam or water vapor generation by the supplied humidification system.
· The system shall be capable of remote control and digital output of system settings through a RS232, RS485, or RJ45 connection.
· The system shall be mountable with appropriate mounting brackets for laboratory setup.
· All setup procedures and assistance for laboratory setup shall be provided by the vendor.
· The system shall include the appropriate power supplies and/or transformers to operate on a single-phase 120 Volt – Alternating Current (VAC), 50-60 Hertz source or other suitable power source. If a different power source such as 208V-220V or 400V/480V, single-phase or three-phase is needed, specify the power source requirements for this unit. The system shall meet the comprehensive regulations of the most recently published US National Electrical Code (NEC).
· The Contractor shall provide training for up to five (5) Army Research Laboratory (ARL) staff members for up to two (2) days within 30 days of delivery, inspection, and acceptance.
· The Contractor shall provide a full warranty of the high-temperature gas humidification system for two (2) years, beginning the day after technical acceptance has been provided by the Government. The warranty shall include replacement of all defective parts at no additional cost to the Government.
