Salient Characteristics:

In an effort to support Office of Secretary of Defense (OSD) sponsored Applied Research for Advancement of Priorities (ARAP) and TRANSFORME Essential Research Project (ERP), the Sensors and Electron Devices Directorate (SEDD) within Army Research Laboratory (ARL) requires quantity one (1) microbioreactor. The Contractor shall provide the aforementioned liquid transfer system, in accordance with section C.2.

C.2 Requirements C.2.1 The Contractor shall deliver quantity one (1) microbioreactor in accordance with (IAW) the following specifications to US Army Research Labs, Adelphi, Maryland:

· Biomass detection by back-scattering of light in microtiter plates with a linear measurement range (up to 100 g/L cell dry weight (CDW)

· Shall control pH in 32 parallel microbioreactor chambers simultaneously

· Shall provide linear, exponential, or continuous feeding profiles

· Shall measure biomass, fluorescence, pH and dissolved oxygen simultaneously

· Shall measure biomass concentrations online under non-limited oxygen transfer conditions

· Shall have an oxygen mass transfer in Flower Plate with volumetric mass-transfer coefficient (kLa)-values with a maximum of 800 per hour (1/h)

· Shall have In-situ temperature and humidity control

· Benchtop footprint not to exceed (WXD): 35 in x 20

· Shall have a temperature control ranging from 5 °C below room temperature to 50 °C.

· Shall have an Orbital shaker: 400 – 1500 revolutions per minute (rpm) at 3 millimeters (mm) (diameter)

· Shall have a filter configuration: up to 6 different filters

· Shall have wavelengths ranging from 365 nm – 800 nanometers (nm)

· Shall have an MTP read time down to 3 minutes/parameter/48 wells

· Shall have pre-calibrated plates for pH and dissolved oxygen monitoring

· Shall have a measurement range pH: 4.5 – 7.5 depending on plate type in buffered systems

· Shall have a measurement range dissolved oxygen (DO): 0 – 100 % oxygen saturation

· Shall utilize disposable technology components to prevent cross contamination of experiments and ensure accuracy of measurements.
