1Solicitation3.2.3.13What type and size grinding wheel will you be running? CBN or

bonded, Diameter and width please.

We do not have a developed process for a machine of this type. We are interested in hearing from offerors what size and type grinding wheels their machine can run and what they recommend. The material that we work with is 4340 alloy steel hardned to Rc 38-42. That said, we typically run bonded wheels on our other grinding machines. We would anticipate the machine to accommodate wheel sizes that correlate with the size of the machine and its tool changer capacity. We will evaluate the offeror's proposal.

2Solicitation3.2.3.13What type of dresser do you require? 1, 2 or 3 point diamond

dresser for bonded wheels or Rotary Dresser for CBN? If Rotary Dresser, do you have a preference of the rotary dresser manufacture?

We do not have a developed process for a machine of this type. We are interested in hearing from offerors what type of dresser their machine utilizes and what they recommend. That said, we typically run single point on our other grinding machines. We do not specify a dresser manufacturer. We will evaluate the offeror's proposal.

3Solicitation3.2.3.13Working with coolants and filtration in the past, depending on the

coolant manufacture, coolant can be stripped out of the water with filtration below 15 to 25 microns. The solicitation references "filter size of 0.00004." This equates to 1 micron. Can you please confirm this is correct specification? If it is not, can you please advise the micron needed for filtration.

This paragraph contained a typo, change 0.00004" to 0.0004". Change is reflected in Amendment 0001 to the solicitation.12-Feb-1815-Feb-18
4Solicitation3.2.2.3Under 3.2.2.3, Travels, the Government is requesting 39" Z. Will the

Government accept a 40" plus part height capability or must the Z travel be 39" as a minimum?

The government has updated it's specification regarding Section 3.2.2.3, as well as several other sections based on this question. Please see updated Section 3.2.2.3 in Amendment 0001 to the Solicitation for the Government's response to this question. 13-Feb-18 15-Feb-18
