QUESTIONS BY CONTRACTORS AND ANSWERS (Q&A)

W911KB21Q0001 Amendment 0001

Q1: What terrain is on the base?

A1: Terrain is likely to be somewhat rough.

Q2: Is this just for mowing of tall grass or would it involve brush cutting as well?

A2: Some brush and small trees can be expected to be encountered.

Q3: Will the contract awardee start this work this fall or next spring?

A3: We anticipate award of the contract in October and require that the contractor mobilize and commence work immediately after Notice of Award / Notice to Proceed.

Q4: Will 2 zero turn mowers and a DR walk behind brush mower be sufficient to do the work?

A4: No. Terrain is likely to be somewhat rough. Some brush and small trees can be expected to be encountered. There is some possibility of large stumps in the RADHAZ signage area. The Drainage Ditch is pretty low key up to loop road, but the area to Lake Sansing has some tree stumps that are not very visible in the pictures. Therefore, commercial mowing equipment suitable for clearing brush, small trees and grass will be required. Brush-cutting equipment with an angle arm will be required to clear the trench / drainage ditch. Some hand clearing around the signs may be required. To help the Government technical team determine if the contractor understands the requirement, prospective contractors shall submit pictures and a description including type, make, model, and year, of the equipment proposed to be used on the project with their proposal.

Q5. Do all of the mowed grass clippings need to be collected and disposed of at the South Borrow Pit?

A5: Grass clippings around the RADHAZ signs do not have to be disposed of at the borrow pit.

Q6: How far is it approximately to the South borrow pit from the work areas?

A6: The South borrow pit to the furthest point of the work is 2 miles.

Q7: How wide are the signs?

A7: The signs are 1' x 1' and are mounted 5' above the ground on poles similar to a stop sign pole.

There are 135 signs and they are spaced 50' apart.

Q8: How wide is within ditch limits?

A8: All sloped area of the ditches must be cleared. Ditch width varies from 4.5' to 8'.

Q9: Is there a deadline in 2021?

A9: Work needs to be done this season.

Q10: Can equipment be staged in the work areas?

A10: Yes. It can.

Q11: Can tree, brush, and grass cuttings be ground and left at the site for mulch?

A11: It can be ground up and left on the wooded side of the ditch.

Q12: Are the ditches fairly solid ground? Or is it boggy?

A12: The slopes and ground around are solid, the ditch has water in it.

Q13: Can the work areas support clearing equipment?

A13: The work areas will support clearing equipment.

Q14: Can we mulch/axe all of the brush and leave it in place rather than haul debris to south borrow pit?

A14: Yes. Debris can be mulched and axed and left on the wooded side of the ditch.

No further questions will be entertained.
