Text version

RFIs received for the JBLM fencing requirement as of 27 June 2022.

1. It is anticipated that dust will be generated from the grading activities - is the contractor to provide dust control (water truck)? If so, is there a location such as a hydrant that the contractor can draw water for the project.

ANSWER. Please clarify. It appears that this RFI is regarding a different project. There are no grading activities listed in the scope of work. Hydrants are available by coordinating through the project manager.

2. In locations of work where grass is already growing, if the contractor regrades these areas as needed to remove the rocks, is the disturbance of the existing grass allowed. I.e.: the area will be a dirt surface after construction, not grass - is this acceptable?

ANSWER. Please clarify. It appears that this RFI is regarding a different project. There are no grading activities listed in the scope of work. SOW PARA 1.4.1.1 (c) All soil debris shall be level spread evenly along the fence line. Contractor shall remove all rocks greater than 2 inches in diameter within 10 feet either side of the fence line. (f) All soil debris generated by the boring of post holes shall be level spread evenly along the fence line. Contractor shall remove all rocks greater than 2 inches in diameter within 10 feet either side of the fence line. (g) Disturbed soil within the work area shall be free of rocks greater than 2 inches in diameter. Disturbed soils shall be hydro seeded with approved grass seed mix.

3. On Attachment 1 does the note "to tire treads" mean the contractor is clear rocks from the Fence line to the west to the existing two track dirt road that is visible on google earth (Airfield side) or does it mean to the East to the existing two track.

ANSWER. Please clarify. It appears that this RFI is regarding a different project. Unable to reference the note "to tire treads". Attachment 1 is the FE-7 Security Fence Detail. There are no two track dirt roads in the vicinity of this work. This project replaces an East/West fence line adjacent to 112th St.

4. On page 2 of Attachment 1 does the note "to the road" indicate from the fence line to the west (public side) to the shoulder of Perimeter Road? Or to Steele Road?

ANSWER. Please clarify. It appears that this RFI is regarding a different project. Unable to reference the note "to the road". Attachment 1 is the FE-7 Security Fence Detail. Attachment 1 does not have a page two.

5. Is the perimeter road a public road? Is traffic control required on Perimeter Road when the contractor is working from the fence to the shoulder of perimeter road?

ANSWER. Please clarify. It appears that this RFI is regarding a different project. Perimeter Road is to the South of McChord Airfield. This project does not impact perimeter road.

6. My question concerns the site obscuration screen. Please provide details and degree of obscuration.

ANSWER. Degree of Obscuration shall be 98%-100%. Obscuration material shall obscure vertically from within 2 inches from the top of the chain link to within 2 inches from the bottom of the chain link. Minimum height of Chain Link Fence Fabric is 7ft. Minimum Fence height including outriggers is 8ft.
