RESPONSES TO INDUSTRY

Request for Information (RFI) Consolidated List

W91151-20-B-0015 Install Catwalks in Bldg. 56031

1) Where will the laydown yard be located for the contractor?

CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE THE LOCATION OF THE LAYDOWN YARD WITH THE

USER AND THE COR.

2) Will the contractor need to provide security fencing or will all materials be in a secured area?

THE GOVERNMENT WILL NOT BE HELD LIABLE FOR ANY OF THE CONTRACTORS

MATERIALS.

3) It’s important to know if we will need to coordinate activities with building occupants. Will the work area be occupied during construction of the catwalks?

CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE WITH THE USER AND COR REGARDING DAILY

OPERATIONS.

4) The drawings don't seem to show any type of access. Are we expected to provide a ladder and catwalk over to the AHU's or will there need to be a simple opening in the catwalk that will be accessed from a lift?

INSTALL ONE SWING GATE PER CATWALK. FINAL LOCATION WILL BE DETERMINED BY

COR UPON CONTRACT AWARD. SWING GATE SHALL BE INSTALLED AS PER

MANUFACTURS MAKE AND MODEL INSTRUCTIONS. PS SAFETY ACCESS/FULL HEIGHT

LADDER SAFETY GATE; OR APPROVED EQUIVALENT.

5) There are angles in the support beams that need to be accounted for. Will the government be able to provide as‐built for the structure?

AS BUILTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE FOR THIS BUILDING. CONTRACTOR TO ASSUME, ALL

HSS HANGERS ARE TO BE 15’ MINIMUM IN THEIR PROPOSAL. FINAL HANGER

LENGTHS SHALL BE FIELD VERIFIED AND COORDINATED WITH COR UPON CONTRACT

AWARD.

6) There are numerous utilities in the immediate area of the AHU's. Are we expected to install the catwalk around those utilities or are we to relocate them?

THE GOVERNMENT WILL NOT BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE MEANS AND METHOD

OF INSTALLATION OF ANY AND ALL COMPONENTS RELATED TO THIS PROJECT.

7) The government has provided specification for the catwalk. While onsite, we noted that there is a hoist beam that travels underneath the AHU's with very low tolerance. Has the government verified their specification allows travel for the hoist beam below the government's desired location for the catwalk?

ALL VERTICAL CLEARENCE REQUIRMENTS HAVE BEEN ACCOUNTED FOR IN THE DESIGN

AND DEVELOPMENT OF THIS PROJECT.

8) What is the level of the walking surface in relation to the bottom of the AHU frame?

SEE ANSWER FOR RFI #5.

9) Does the catwalk need 360 degree coverage around the AHU's? There does not appear to be any need for access on the ends of the AHU's.

REFER TO SHEET S–101 FOR CATWALK LOCATIONS.

10) Is the contractor required to hire structural engineer required to verify shop drawings live loads and dead loads?

STRUCTURAL DESIGN HAS BEEN FURNISHED BY DPW. CONTRACTOR SHALL BE

RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING STRUCTURAL STEEL, SHOP DRAWINGS, PER NOTE GN–4

ON SHEET S–001.

11) GN‐10 states that observations are required by structural engineer. Is that structural engineer to be hired by contractor?

GN–10 REFERS TO GOVERNMENT STRUCTURAL ENGINEER.

12) Existing Crane inside the building travels just 2 to 4 inches under the HVAC equipment, electrical conduit and sprinkler system lines. Can the Catwalk height be adjusted to stay above crane and other HVAC equipment? SEE ANSWER FOR

RFI #7.

13) Numerous amount of conduit, fire sprinkler systems, mechanical components and unistrut are currently on the way of the proposed location of the catwalks. What is the recommendation of the MICC‐FH?

INSTALL CATWALKS & ASSOCIATED ACCESSORIES IN ACCORDANCE WITH

CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS.

14) Does client understand crane will be non‐operational during the construction period on the area beneath the catwalks?

SEE ANSWER FOR RFI #3

15) What finish does the government want on the catwalk (i.e. galvanized, powder coated, painted, etc.)?

SEE NOTE SS‐4 ON SHEET S‐001

16) It appeared at the site visit that the current design will not fit on both sides of the existing equipment due to miscellaneous conduit, piping, ductwork, etc. in the way. Nothing could be verified because there is no access from the ground to the equipment platform. The current equipment looks to be 40ft. or more above finished floor. Also, it appears that the existing service crane when in operation is only 1ft. to 1.5ft below the bottom of the existing equipment rack. Cannot be verified.

WHAT’S THE QUESTION?

17) Will the existing drawings stand as engineered designs for the project?

THE SOLICITATION DRAWINGS HAVE BEEN ENGINEERED.

18) Will the awarded contractor be required to supply engineered stamped drawings?

REFER TO RFI 10 RESPONSE.

19) Will calculations be required for design?

SEE ANSWER FOR RFI #18.

20) Based on the height of the work being performed will a fall protection plan and a lift plan need to be engineered and stamped

REFER TO EM‐385‐1‐1 FOR ALL SAFETY REQUIRMENTS.

21) Will the 2 bay area floors under the equipment be cleared during contract performance?

SEE ANSWER FOR RFI #3.

REFER TO MICC / KO.

27) Will the Government provide comprehensive written badging requirements for the project if badging is required?

REFER TO DIVISION 1.

28) Where will the designated parking area be for workers accessing the construction site.

31) Are there any divisions listed in the specifications that are not included in this project? (See questions 11‐ 29 for further detail)

ALL NECESARRY DOCUMANTATION HAS BEEN PROVIDED.

32) Due to current potentially significant tariffs being placed on the importation of building materials such as wood or steel by the current Presidential Executive Branch, if a tariff is placed after bid time and before award will the government consider a price escalation on a contract value for products such as steel or wood should the executive branch levee tariffs affecting such materials? Most of these materials would still have been Buy American compliant as the tariffs would increase pricing on all steel or wood materials, regardless of origin.

THIS IS A FIRM FIXED PRICE CONTRACT.
