QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
Questions & Answers
Question: We have a highly qualified partner who could provide fast and professional service, according to the requirements in the RFQ. The German Industry Norm 100 (DIN 100) for Surgical Instruments is very extensive with their restrictions and therefore our partner cannot provide professional mobile support services.
Our partner has two surgical mechanical laboratories in Eppelborn and Leverkusen, where they refurbish the surgical instruments with extensive equipment (abrasive belts, some with special discs for supercut and serrated scissors, automatic blasting machines for surface treatment, gold bath for re-gilding HM scissors and forceps, ultrasonic bath for removing abrasive particles).
We could offer pickup and delivery services with a general repair time of 5-10 workdays including emergencies, which could be done within 48 hours.
Please advise if the aforementioned is acceptable or not.
Answer: The Government cannot accept a 5-10 workday turnaround time or even a 48 hours turnaround time. There are two reasons that makes this unacceptable.
1. The Landstuhl Regional Medical Center does not have sufficient inventory of surgical items that would allow such a turnaround time (sometimes only a single item).
2. The above mentioned turnaround times are contrary to the required readiness, which require the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center to be capable to execute surgical emergencies in less than 24 hours.
