RESPONSES TO QUESTIONS
Question #1: I looked and read the schedule under supplies/ services on page 3,4 it states that the belts should be certain width and length and needs to be 5 play and 3MM top cover and 2MM bottom cover. With 5 play requirement, is there additional thickness that need to be counted for or should the final thichness is 5MM including the 5 play layers?
Response:
EP is the type of fabric used in the construction (E) stands for polyester (P) for polyamide (Nylon). 500 relates to the breaking strength of the material. Thus the construction of the conveyor belt should be EP500 material. 5 ply refers to the plies required and contributes to the thickness and strength in the conveyor belt. The belt should then include a 3mm top cover and a 2mm bottom cover. The thickness of the top and bottom cover (5mm total) is in addition to the conveyor belt material.
Question #2: As for the total length of 500 meter and 100 meters, are these one single peice of each length or it can be in shorter peices totals 500, 100 meters?
Response: The conveyor belts must be 500 meters in length and 100 meters in length, as identified in the contract line item numbers. The belt shall be full length. The government will consider as an option the 500 meter belt in two 250 meter sections. The 100 meter belt may not be broken into sections. Your bid MUST identify whether the 500 meter belt is being provided in two 250 meter sections.
Question #3: Can you please let me know what material these conveyor belts are made of?
Response: See response to Question #1
Question #4: What this is being used for?
Response: The requirement is for replacement parts in a cement factory. The conveyor belt will be used to convey 50KG bags of cement
Question #5: What is the PIW weight?
Response: The specifications call for EP 500. See response to Question #1.
Question #6: Does this have to be metric?
Response: YES. The solicition identifies the length of conveyor belts in meters. These are replacements for existing parts and must meet the same criteria as the parts for which they are replacing.
Question #7: The length of these belts seem very long and they may be difficult to handle. Is the length of 500m correct?
Response: Yes, the lengths are correct at 500 meters and 100 meters as listed in the specification.
Question #8: We can supply rolls of material in this length or shorter belts and would be happy to make you an offer for an alternative product.
Response: See response to Question #2.
Question #9: Can you give me more details on the application where these belts are used so, that I can offer you an alternative?
Response: See response to Question #4. You MUST submit a quote for the items identified in the solicitation. However, the offeror may submit an alternative for consideration. The alternative bid must be clearly identified with the following statement: “ALTERNATIVE PROPOSAL TO W90WH9-09-T-0051”.
Question #10: These belts are made to order speciation. Do you know what the overall gauge is?
Response: The gauge is a fixed function of the previously mentioned specifications.
Question #11: Also is there anything special with the cover compounds or is it just a standard RMA grade II?
Response: The belt is to be EP (polyester canvas). Standard grade is acceptable.
Question #12: Can you accept a 4-ply 500?
Response: The belt must be a 5 ply EP500 with the top & bottom covers as indicated in the specifications.
