3.0 Requirements TC "3.0 Requirements" \f C \l "1" .

3.1 Background TC "3.1 Background" \f C \l "1" .

3.1.1 Pentagon Shield Program TC "3.1.1 Pentagon Shield Program" \f C \l "1" . The Pentagon Shield Program is a next generation protection system for CBR defense of the Pentagon. The program focuses on active and passive Heating, Ventilation, & Air Conditioning (HVAC) strategies and automated evacuation guidance systems to mitigate the effects of a CBR release and protect building occupants. Driving the response is a three-tiered sensing system, which improves sensor confidence, and provides data inputs to near real-time high fidelity internal and external models. This allows for tracking and prediction of contaminant transport and guides system responses.

3.1.2 Pentagon Shield Command and Control System TC "3.1.2 Pentagon Shield Command and Control System" \f C \l "1" . The PS building protection system has a comprehensive command and control system that coordinates operation of the automated hazard mitigation response system for the Pentagon. The PS command and control system monitors operation of interior and exterior CBR sensors, operates computer contaminant transport and dispersion models, and coordinates the automated exposure mitigation responses to CBR hazard detection.
