Market Survey for Single-Carriage and Dual-Carriage CNC Lathes for Watervliet Arsenal
DESCRIPTION OF INTENT:
THIS IS A MARKET SURVEY REQUESTING INFORMATION IN SUPPORT OF THE FOLLOWING PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENT. No contract will be awarded from this announcement. This is not a Request for Proposal (RFP) or an announcement of a forthcoming solicitation. Also, it is not a request seeking contractors interested in being placed on a solicitation mailing list. Response to this questionnaire is voluntary and no reimbursement will be made for any costs associated with providing information in response to this market survey and any follow-on information requests. Data submitted in response to this market survey will not be returned. No solicitation document exists at this time, and calls requesting a solicitation will not be answered.
SURVEY PURPOSE:
The purpose of this market survey is to obtain information on potential cost savings through standardization of the computer numerical control (CNC) lathe fleet used to produce the Extended Range Canon Artillery (ERCA), M776, and M184 155mm canon tubes at Watervliet Arsenal (WVA).
Interested parties are encouraged to review this Market Survey in its entirety, and provide input into the Government’s decision-making process by following the instructions provided.
RRAD NEED DESCRIPTION:
WVA, located near Albany, NY, currently uses the following lathe equipment to produce ERCA, M775, and M185 155mm canon tubes:
· Multiple Tacchi HD/3 675 x 8000 series 105LS single carriage lathes
· One Tacchi Model HD/3 725 x 7000 series 105HS center drive, dual carriage lathe
· Two Wohlenberg lathes, slated for replacement.
WVA feeds AutoCAD drawings into MasterCAM to create instruction sets for the lathes and their affiliated post-processors.
To meet production goals and account for aging machinery nearing the end of its service life, WVA needs to purchase the following equipment:
· One single-carriage CNC Lathe, Tacchi HD/3 105 LS 675 or equivalent
· One dual-carriage CNC Lathe, Tacchi HD/3 105 LS 675 or equivalent
INFORMATION NEEDED:
WVA is attempting to determine if it can realize a lifecycle cost savings through the standardization of its production CNC lathe fleet, potentially by replacing one or more of its aging non-Tacchi lathes with Tacchi-branded lathes. Interested parties, particularly providers of Tacchi CNC lathes or units with equivalent technical capabilities, are encouraged to respond by providing all of the information requested on the CNC Lathe Questionnaire, available on the last page of this Announcement.
