LOADING RAMP AND RAIL SKIRT SOLICITATION QUESTIONS

1: I have attached a picture of one of our models we have provided to other Military Bases and I'm wondering if this is what you are looking for.

Government Response: The government does not provide technical evaluations or pre-evaluations prior to the closing of the solicitation. Please quote based on the specifications outlined in the solicitation.

2. Is there a requirement for the rail ramp and rail skirt to be supplied with expeditionary storage/transport containers, (i.e. 20 ft Connex containers)?

Government Response: The salient characteristics do not state it is necessary to supply expeditionary storage/transport containers.

3. What is the overall length required for the rail skirt?

Government Response: The overall length of the rail skirt was not specified, as it is up the individual contractor to propose a product that can safely move tracked equipment on/off rail cars and/or other environments. The proposal should include enough information to adequately describe the proposed equipment’s functionality within the stated solicitation page restrictions.

4. If the offeror responding to, or fulfilling the requirements of this solicitation breaches any existing intellectual property (i.e. patents) will the U.S. Government be indemnifying the contractor for said breaches?

Government Response: In accordance with FAR 27.201-2(g), the U.S. Government does not indemnify contractors for patent infringement.

5. Under what operational conditions is the ramp envisioned to be employed (i.e. port, down range rail terminal and a in extremist off load from a train where the rail line has been damaged)?

Government Response: The loading ramp and rail skirt should have the capability to be used in any number of situations, where there are short falls in ramp capacity.

6. The weight of a M1A2C is 73.6 tons-not combat loaded. The weight of a M1A2C is 73.6 tons-not combat loaded. The weight of the next generation of armor is expected to be so-short tons. Should the ramp be engineered to exceed so-tons? 65-tons will not work for current generation of tank which are between 63 and 69-short tons.

Government Response: The weight rating of the loading ramp and rail shirt is 65 Metric tons. The measurement of this ramp is in Metric Tons and not Short Tons.
