W50S9H-21-Q-0011 - SHIPPING CONTAINERS WITH ROOF

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Q1. What kind of roof System are you requesting, wood Frame, Metal Frame, plywood decking, and singles, or rubberized roofing?

A1. Metal Frame, metal roofing. No shingles or wood.

Q2. Does it have a back end, or is it drive thru? (Doors on both sides)?

A2. The ends between shipping containers is open (drive through)

Q3. Is it being installed on a pad/concrete or set on the ground?

A3. It will be on gravel pad.

Q4. Does the drawing show an overhang? The 56.09' is 8.04' on each side?

A4. The roof system attaches to the inside corners of the shipping container and the overhang looking part is covering the top of the shipping container. The roof spans 40 feet between shipping containers then has the “overhang” on either side to cover the tops of each container.

Q5. What does the Gray area represent on each side of the container?

A5. The gray area’s on either side of the roof system represents the shipping containers that it sits on.

Q6. The specifications state the required snow load should be 25 PSF. We have had suppliers indicate that the proposed area in which this structure is located has a 40 PSF snow load requirement. Please verify that 25 PSF will be acceptable at this location.

A6. After researching further we have found that Wisconsin requires 30-40 PSF, 40 PSF being for the northern part of the state. So just to be safe let’s go with the suppliers suggestions of 40 PSF.

Q7. There is a requirement that the structure needs to be painted in alternating colors of red and white with stripes.

What are the limits of this painting? For example, do the storage containers and exterior of the roof need to be painted in these colors?

A7. The storage containers and the exterior of the roof system both needs to have the alternating red and white paint scheme to include the ends of the shipping containers.

Q8. The drawing that was included as part of this RFP shows a gable roof system. Will an arch roof system be allowed?

A8. An arched or gambrel style roof is preferred. We want to have as much height under the roof system as we can get.

Q9. There is a requirement that states covers need to be included on the containers to ensure water doesn’t pool on the container ceiling. The drawing provided with this RFP does not show it, but, we are assuming a separate roof should slope over the containers to prevent this pooling? As an alternative, can the roof system span to the exterior of the containers to avoid this issue?

A9. As long as there is 40 feet in between the shipping containers it would be okay to have the roof system attach to the outside corners of the containers to cover the tops.
