About this file

This is a Questions and Answers document for solicitation W50S9G25QA011 from the Wisconsin Army National Guard regarding a Monorail Overhead Crane and Installation project.

The Q&A clarifies technical specifications for a four-post (or optionally six-post) monorail crane system with a 36' monorail beam supported by header beams. The system requires 3'6" width between columns to accommodate stationary equipment, with floor-mounted angle braces for sway control (no building attachments permitted). The electric hoist will operate on 120V or 208V power. Installation will take place in Milwaukee County, WI on existing 6" reinforced concrete. Key dates include: site visit RSVP by February 25, 2025, site visit on March 4, 2025 at 1200 CST, questions due March 11, 2025 at 1500 CST, and quotes due March 18, 2025 at 1300 CST.

MONORAIL OVERHEAD CRANE AND INSTALLATION

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

As of: 24 February 2024

The following answers to corresponding questions have been incorporated into the solicitation via an amendment. Offerors shall acknowledge amendments IAW FAR 52.212-1(b)(9).

Question 1: Is this a four post with a 36’ monorail beam hanging off header beams on each end?

Answer 1: Yes, it’s a four post with a 36’ monorail beam off header beams on each end. 6 posts would be acceptable. 2 to support middle of the rail section.

Question 2: It’s only 3’ 6” wide witch tells me it must have four columns, is this a correct assumption?

Answer 2: That assumption is correct. 6 posts would be acceptable. The other 2 posts to support middle of the rail section.

Question 3: They want sway bracing; would that be to a building column or angle braces bolted to the monorail columns and angled to the floor?

Answer 3: Yes, that would be to angle braces bolted to the monorail columns and angled to the floor. This system is floor mounted only. No attachments to the building are allowed.

Question 4: We would need to know what they mean by 3' 6" wide on the monorail. Does that mean a header with that width or does the post need to be back that far or does that mean something else?

Answer 4: 3’6” is the space between columns. The stationary equipment needs to fit between the vertical supports for the crane.

Question 5: What is the power supply that will be used with the electric hoist we supply?

Answer 5: POWER: 120V or 208V

Question 6: You have a width measurement below of 3’6”. This doesn’t really make sense to me as a monorail system would be two columns, with a single rail connecting them. Is this potentially the maximum overall width for the baseplate?

Answer 6: Four post with a 36’ monorail beam off header beams on each end. 3”6” is the width between columns on each end to fit stationary equipment.

Question 7: Is this to be installed in Milwaukee County, WI?

Answer 7: Yes, that is correct.

Question 8: Is there 6” reinforced concrete already in place? Or is concrete work required?

Answer 8: Yes. 6” Reinforced concrete is already in place
