About this file
This document contains Questions and Responses related to a federal contract opportunity for the provision and installation of a freestanding mezzanine to be used primarily as a cardio area. Key details:
The mezzanine will have a ceiling height of 19'4" to the bottom of the truss, and the government will provide a 10K forklift to unload the materials. The walls are smooth with only a cove base, and facility drawings are attached. A railing will only be required on the south side where the gate and stairs are located, and a slip-resistant tread is acceptable for the stairs. A lift-out rail panel is acceptable for the removable gate.
The related federal contract opportunity is Solicitation Number W50S8S24QA004, issued by the Department of the Army National Guard, for the provision and installation of a mezzanine to be used primarily as a cardio area with treadmills, ellipticals, and stair steppers, but could also be used for free weights or fitness cable machines. The mezzanine is to be built to industry standards.

2. Will the government be able to unload the materials when delivered?
Response: The government will provide a 10K forklift to unload the materials when delivered.
3. Is there any trim where the floor meets the walls that would cause the dimensions provided to be slightly smaller? Any extrusions along the wall that could do the same or block installation?
Response: The walls are smooth and there is only a cove base installed. Two pictures are attached of the East and West walls.
4. Would you be able to provide the blue and purple dimension to the outside of the door frame so we can make sure it will not be obstructed by a post or brace?
Response: Facility drawings are attached.
5. Will rail be needed on all sides of the platform?
Response: A railing will only be required on the south side where the gate and stairs are located.
6. Will the stairs require the mesh panel rail as described in the specs?
Response: Yes, a mesh panel of some type is required.
7. I’m assuming our typical checker plate tread will be acceptable for the stairs?
Response: Yes, any slip resistant tread will work.
8. You show removable gate, will a lift out rail panel work?
Response: Yes, a lift out rail panel works. The lift out gate or panel should be secured with pins or bolts, so it is not easily removed without hand tools.
